15. Presentation of Cuyahoga County Board of Health Resolution to City Council <br /> CCBH Commissioner Terry Allan, Board President Dr. Hall, and Program Manager Roger Sikes <br /> addressed City Council to present a resolution recognizing the City of Lakewood for its re- <br /> investments into outdoor basketball in the face of challenges. <br /> President O'Malley spoke of the campaign to bring basketball back to Madison Park 6 years ago <br /> and the close partnership with Mr. Sikes, which helped to make that possible. <br /> Mr. Sikes expressed appreciation to Mayor George for developing community-based solutions to <br /> gun violence after listening to the community and not reacting by removing the hoops. He <br /> expressed appreciation to the community leaders, mentors, and City Council for supporting the <br /> courts. He provided a specific example about the power of mentors at the courts. <br /> Motion by President O'Malley, seconded by Vice President Litten to receive and file the <br /> communication. <br /> Discussion: Councilmember Rader expressed pride that the city did the right thing by re-investing <br /> in the courts and that the decision was easy, given the active community support. <br /> Mayor George expressed pride in the city's response to the situation. She thanked members of <br /> the administration for their roles. <br /> Councilmember Kepple spoke of the true community-based nature of the approach to Madison <br /> Park and recognized particular community members. <br /> Councilmember Bullock expressed interest in using Lakewood as a model for other communities. <br /> He applauded the city's mentorship program and expressed support for its continuation. <br /> On the motion: All members voted in favor. Motion passed. <br /> 16. RESOLUTION 2022-02 - A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it <br /> receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or <br /> otherwise to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, <br /> appointing to the Audit Committee to a two-year term <br /> beginning January 1, 2022, and ending December 31, 2023. <br /> President O'Malley announced that Council's recent appointee, Jennifer Jaketic, reluctantly <br /> resigned her position on the Audit Committee, due to rules set in place by her employer. <br /> Motion by President O'Malley, seconded by Vice President Litten to refer Resolution 2022-02 <br /> to Committee of the Whole. <br /> All members voted in favor.
