He noted he was chair of the Planning Commission <br /> in 2015 when the city asked for a historic designation on the building. He asked that the city find <br /> a way to preserve the building. <br /> Heather Rudge— 13926 Clifton—Ms. Rudge questioned why a potential national retailer as a <br /> tenant for the Curtis Block should dictate what of the city's history should be preserved. She <br /> stated an opposition to subsidizing the discarding of history. She expressed outrage and <br /> disagreed with CASTO's estimate to fully preserve the Curtis Block building. <br /> Paula Reed— 1208 Manor Park—Ms. Reed detailed her interactions with the Curtis Block <br /> building since 2009. She stated a desire for its preservation, after seeing it deteriorate over the <br /> years. <br /> Rick Sicha— 1519 W. Clifton—Mr. Sicha stated that every building on the site needs to have an <br /> elevator. He added that there needs to be data collected on the Clinic ambulance noise and <br /> whether it would affect a corner plaza. He cited parking concerns for the project and advocated <br /> for the preservation of the Curtis Block building. <br /> Mayor George read from the master agreement with the Cleveland Clinic, which requires the <br /> lease of 75 spaces on the east side of Belle Ave. for Clinic employees. The city is in preliminary <br /> discussion with the Clinic to see if there is any wiggle room in the agreement. She added that the <br /> Curtis Block building is important and historic. She noted that the city and developer have gone <br /> through multiple financial exercises to preserve it, however the $7 million required is more than <br /> what is in the city's Lakewood Hospital fund. She noted it would require astronomical public <br /> subsidy and that it will be difficult or almost impossible to keep the Curtis Block in full. <br /> Vice President Litten adjourned the meeting without objection at 7:40 p.m. <br /> 6 <br />
