Proposed budget priorities for City of <br /> Lakewood's 2023 budget: <br /> 1) Public Works & Sustainability: <br /> a) Open bathrooms at Edwards and Cove Park (during same hours as <br /> Kauffman, Madison, and Lakewood Parks) <br /> b) Skate Park expansion—up to $500k construction for 2023 (building on $50k <br /> design in 2022). <br /> c) Forestry: Ensure proper watering of trees, even during drought conditions <br /> d) Clean fuels and clean vehicle fleet implementation (note an updated analysis <br /> is available for free as part of two City memberships) (continuation and <br /> expansion) <br /> e) Consider EV car share service (new) <br /> f) Continue implementation of Lakewood's bicycle network—e.g. Clifton <br /> Boulevard project; Riverside protected bike lanes (continuation) <br /> 2) Housing, Planning, and Development: <br /> a) Affordable Housing <br /> i) Resuming landlord training seminar quarterly <br /> ii) Conduct an affordable housing study <br /> b) Resume implementation of a Commercial Forward exterior inspections of <br /> commercial property (resumption) <br /> c) Continue and grow Lakewood's Public Art Initiative (continuation) <br /> d) Budget resources to achieve the highest quality finish on the Public Square <br /> in the former Lakewood Hospital development (new) <br /> 3) Public Safety: <br /> a) Conduct analysis of Lakewood Dispatch—resources (staffing, equipment, <br /> space) vs. population served. Is Dispatch properly resourced in accordance <br /> with previous analyses and plans? How to position Lakewood for success <br /> under new standards anticipated from the State of Ohio? (new) <br /> 4) City Council: <br /> a) Add staffing/contract for communications consultant (new) <br /> b) Continue/expand professional development budget (continuation) <br />
