such reimbursement, the employee shall have the full amount of tuition reimbursement deducted <br />from his final payout or make full restitution to the City. <br />ARTICLE 42 <br />COMMUNICABLE DISEASES <br />42.01 The City recognizes its obligation to be responsive to the employee's needs regarding <br />communicable diseases. Detailed policy and procedures shall continue to be in place regarding <br />proactive preventative measures. This policy and procedure shall be available to each bargaining <br />unit member. It shall discuss and describe treatment of citizens and the precautions which should <br />be practiced for one's self-protection. Said policy and procedures shall be updated as often as new <br />information is made available. <br />42.02 The City shall issue members all equipment and supplies necessary to reasonably protect <br />the member from contracting communicable diseases within the work environment. The City <br />agrees to cooperate with members with terminal illness seeking to utilize the pension system <br />disability program and/or retirement system that provides viable options for that affected <br />employee. <br />ARTICLE 43 <br />MISCELLANEOUS <br />43.01 All full-time employees on the swing shift shall have a minimum of six (6) "RDO" days <br />off each month. <br />43.02 Reinstatements <br />A. Bargaining unit employees who have completed their probationary period and who have <br />terminated their employment for reasons not related to a disciplinary matter may be <br />reinstated to their previous position, at the discretion of the City, within one (1) year of the <br />date of termination. <br />B. For purposes of initial placement in the wage scale, a reinstated employee will be credited <br />with one (1) month for each three (3) full months of prior service in the job classification <br />with the City of Lakewood, and will be placed at the appropriate point on the wage schedule <br />in recognition of said prior service (e.g., an employee with 42 months of prior service in <br />the classification would be placed at the 12 month rate). Thereafter, the employee will <br />advance through the wage schedule to any higher step upon the completion of six (6) month <br />service increments. <br />C. Reinstated employees shall be required to successfully complete a six (6) month <br />probationary period. <br />26 <br />
