y <br />ARTICLE 6 WORKWEEK/SCHEDULED HOURS <br />6.01 For the purpose of this Agreement, a workday for employees, with the exception of <br />change -over, training assignment, unit shift, or pre -scheduled overlapping, in part or whole <br />shifts, shall consist of eight (8) regularly scheduled, consecutive hours during a twenty four (24) <br />hour period of time for officers scheduled for eight (8) hour shifts and twelve (12) regularly <br />scheduled, consecutive hours during a twenty-four (24) hour period of time for officers <br />scheduled for twelve (12) hour shifts. A twenty-four (24) hour period commences at the <br />beginning of a regularly scheduled shift. Furthermore, the normal workweek for full-time police <br />officers scheduled for eight (8) hour shifts shall consist of forty (40) regular scheduled hours. <br />The normal two -week work period for full-time police officers scheduled for twelve (12) hour <br />shift shall consist of eighty (80) regularly scheduled hours. <br />6.02 A workday for those personnel assigned to training as students or instructors shall consist <br />of eight (8) regularly scheduled hours during a twenty-four (24) hour period of time. <br />6.03 Compensation for regularly scheduled twelve (12) hour days shall be at a straight time <br />rate of pay. <br />6.04 Employees of each bargaining unit within the same grade may, at their request and <br />subject to approval of their division commander and the Chief of Police, trade scheduled work <br />periods for the purpose of participating in a degree program at an accredited college or <br />university, or for participation in training related to their current duties. Such requests shall be <br />submitted in a timely manner, through channels, only after the employee has exhausted all other <br />alternatives. No employee shall be a participant in such trades in excess of four (4) times within <br />any calendar month or twelve (12) times within any calendar year. <br />6.05 Current practice of trading days shall be maintained. <br />6.06 Employees shall work the following number of hours in a calendar year based on the <br />following formula: Total number of days in the calendar year, subtract the number of Saturdays <br />and Sundays in that calendar year, multiplied by eight (8) hours. <br />2023 365 Days —105 Saturdays and Sundays x 8 hours = 2080 hours <br />2024 366 Days —104 Saturdays and Sundays x 8 hours = 2096 hours <br />2025 365 Days —104 Saturdays and Sundays x 8 hours = 2088 hours <br />All new bargaining unit employees must sign up for direct deposit upon hire. All current <br />bargaining unit employees must sign up for direct deposit within 60 days of the ratification of <br />this contract. <br />ARTICLE 7 OVERTIME <br />7.01 All overtime must be approved by the Chief of Police, or a designated representative, and <br />all assigned overtime will be compensated for as provided in this Agreement. <br />
