work boots, shorts, insulated coveralls, socks, base layers, etc. This uniform allowance will be paid <br />in the month of January as part of the employee's regular check. <br />32.05 The City will reimburse employees an additional Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per year ifwork boots <br />are purchased from a Lakewood business and the total cost is greater than $150.00. Reimbursement <br />will be paid after a paid receipt for approved work boots is submitted to the Division Manager by the <br />employee. <br />32.06 Consideration of the types of Uniforms, fabric, etc., that are to be required will be subject to <br />discussion through labor-management meetings. <br />ARTICLE 33 TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT <br />33.1 The City shall provide all tools and equipment to employees for the proper and safe operation <br />of their jobs. <br />ARTICLE 34 SAFE WORK PRACTICES <br />34.01 There shall be joint, divisional Union/Employer safety committees for the purpose of <br />discussing safety related problems. Such committees shall be comprised of two (2) Union members <br />and two (2) members of Management. The safety committees shall meet on a quarterly basis during <br />working hours, or more often whenever the need arises, at any time. The City shall provide safety <br />equipment and maintain proper safeguards for the employees. Executive level safety concerns shall <br />be addressed during the quarterly executive labor/management committee meetings. <br />34.02 The City's Operations Manager (Fleet Management) shall certify all vehicles purchased used <br />that the vehicles are road worthy. <br />34.03 The City agrees to limit outside work during extremes in weather, such as excessive heat, <br />cold, wind chill factor, severe storms, high winds, lightning and other severe weather conditions. In <br />the event weather conditions exist during which outside work may be limited, an Operations <br />Manager or supervisor in charge at the time, should, upon request by the Union President or <br />designee, investigate and make a determination whether or not there is a "severe weather condition" <br />in a timely manner. If there is a dispute as to whether a "severe weather condition" exists, the Union <br />President or designee may request a "work limitation" by the Director of Public Works or designee. <br />Nonetheless, employees may be required to work outside in such conditions during an emergency <br />which is defined as an impairment in City services or operations which cannot be delayed until the <br />beginning of the next regular workday. Any dispute regarding the declaration of "severe weather <br />condition" which cannot be resolved may be submitted to Step III of the grievance procedure. <br />34.04 In the event an emergency is declared by the Director of Public Works or designee, the Union <br />President shall be notified within twenty-four (24) hours. <br />32 <br />
