ARTICLE 15 EQUALIZATION OF OVERTIME <br />15.01 The City shall be the sole judge of the necessity of overtime. When overtime is necessary, <br />the City shall offer the available overtime to employees in the following order: <br />1st -classified employees who normally perform the work on a daily basis, in accordance <br />to seniority on a rotating basis; <br />2nd-qualified employees within the division, in accordance with seniority on a rotating <br />basis; <br />3rd-qualified employees within the department, in accordance with seniority on a rotating <br />basis; <br />4th-qualified employees city-wide, in accordance with seniority on a rotating basis. <br />15.02 If a sufficient number of employees still have not been obtained, the City may assign the <br />work to qualified employees from the city-wide seniority list in reverse order of seniority. <br />15.03 Supervisory employees shall not work bargaining unit overtime if immediately qualified <br />members of the bargaining unit are available. College and temporary employees shall not work <br />bargaining unit overtime work. <br />15.04 A record of all overtime hours worked by or credited to each employee, by classification, <br />by division, and in a payroll period, shall be recorded on lists by the City and posted in each <br />division. The lists shall be updated in a timely fashion. <br />15.05 If an employee is inadvertently passed over for overtime, the employee shall be the next <br />called until the overtime lost has been worked. <br />ARTICLE 16 GENERAL LEAVE/PERSONAL LEAVE <br />16.01 An employee who has completed their probationary period maybe granted time off without <br />pay for a period not to exceed thirty (30) calendar days in duration. Said personal leave may be <br />granted by the Director of the employee's department. It is agreed that requests for personal leave <br />will not be denied unreasonably. It is further agreed that the employee requesting personal leave <br />shall give the City a minimum of two (2) weeks written notice except in cases of extreme <br />emergencies. <br />16.02 Should an employee require additional time over the thirty (30) day limit, an additional <br />written request shall be presented for approval to the Director, with concurrence by the Mayor or <br />Human Resources Director. <br />16.03 An employee shall accumulate seniority only during the first thirty (30) days of their <br />personal leave of absence. <br />13 <br />
