MINUTES <br /> OF THE <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> OF <br /> LAKEWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> AUDITORIUM <br /> December 19, 2022 <br /> 7:30 P.M. <br /> Regular Meeting of the Lakewood City Council called to order at 7:42 PM by President Litten <br /> Present: Kyle Baker (virtual), Thomas R. Bullock III (virtual), Sarah Kepple, John Litten, Cindy <br /> Marx, Tristan Rader, Jason Shachner <br /> Also Present: Finance Director Rancatore, Police Chief Kaucheck, Acting Public Works Director <br /> Papke, Human Resources Director Claudia Dillinger, Planning Director Shawn Leininger, Law <br /> Director Ernie Vargo, Human Services Director Chad Berry, Chief of Staff John Storey, Clerk <br /> Bach and Council staff <br /> President Litten stated that the evening's meeting would be a hybrid one, part virtual and part in- <br /> person, pursuant to LCO 109.01131. As presiding officer, he called for the January 19th, 2022 <br /> meeting to be held by video conference due to the special circumstance of illnesses or family <br /> illnesses to Councilmembers Bullock and Baker. Under the ordinance Councilmembers Bullock <br /> and Baker need not be presented for the purposes of voting or establishing a quorum. <br /> Motion by President Litten, seconded by Vice President Kepple to receive and file the minutes of <br /> the November 21, 2022 General Meeting without the necessity of a reading. All in favor. Motion <br /> passed. <br /> ****OLD BUSINESS*** <br /> Without objection, Item 423 was moved to the top of the agenda. <br /> 1. ORDINANCE 12-2021A -AN ORDINANCE to take effect immediately provided it <br /> receives the vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or otherwise to take <br /> effect at the earliest period allowed by law, to amend S. Ord. 12-2021, adopted March <br /> 15, 2021, to remove the sunset date of the original legislation and permanently <br /> expanding rental rights within the City of Lakewood by allowing renters who tender <br /> their full rent plus any additional late fees and court costs,prior to an eviction hearing to <br /> avoid eviction for late payment of rent and setting reasonable late fees that a landlord <br /> may charge a tenant.
