Public Comment <br />Charles Calanni Jr. – 13728 Madison Ave. – Mr. Calanni expressed opposition to the ordinance <br />and voiced his specific concerns. He stated that the city’s parking problems are wide-spread and <br />not a result of auto repair businesses. <br />Brian Genzile - 19428 Van Aken Blvd. – Mr. Genzile objected to the ordinance and raised <br />concerns about fairness and enforcement. He asked for clear standards to be articulated. <br /> <br />Micah Zoken - 15637 Madison Ave. – Mr. Zoken described the parking problems at his rental <br />property on Madison. He noted that relying on police to tow is not a great solution, as that can <br />take time. <br /> <br />Renee Nottago – 2159 Morrison – Ms. Nottago described a neighborhood problem where a <br />neighbor is operating a commercial auto repair business from his residence. She asked for the <br />city to step in. <br /> <br />Councilmember Bullock expressed concern but mentioned that the ordinance under <br />consideration would not impact the situation on Morrison, since that resident is already operating <br />outside the bounds of the law. <br /> <br />Jerry Knapp Jr. 14588 Madison Ave. – Mr. Knapp expressed appreciation to the mayor for <br />listening and responding to concerns in the original legislation. He remarked that the new version <br />of the ordinance reflects desired industry standards and that a business will not struggle to <br />comply if they properly manage their lot. <br /> <br />Charlie Calanni Sr. – 13728 Madison Ave. – Mr. Calanni spoke about his 50 years’ experience <br />operating his business in Lakewood. He expressed opposition to the ordinance and asserted that <br />there is no parking problem on Madison during the day. He placed blame on bars and restaurants <br />for contributing to evening parking problems. He expressed entitlement to use public parking. <br />Dave Slife - 13729 Madison – Mr. Slife spoke of the parking problems on Madison and blamed <br />one particular business. He pointed to the majority auto repair businesses that do not use public <br />parking as part of their lot management. <br /> <br />Councilmember Bullock expressed his intent to hold another meeting on this topic. <br /> <br />Housing, Planning & Development Committee adjourned at 7:40 pm. <br />3 <br /> <br />
