Councilmember Baker described the visual importance of traffic signals that make Lakewood look cared for. He <br />critiqued the signals that have wire hanging in the background. He also confirmed with Mr.Papke that the <br />ODOT inflation has been calculated into the cost of funding for 2029. <br />Chair Rader and Mr. Papke went over pedestrian friendly upgrades including the mitigation of radar detection <br />for traffic movement. ADA accessible pedestrian controllers have been included in the plan as well as brighter <br />backplates to the lights. There was also mention of appropriately striped intersections that will meet the safety <br />factors. Chair Rader expressed the importance of visibility in busy intersections. <br /> <br />Councilmember Baker asked about the significance of radar technology. Mr. Papke responded with radar <br />technology actuating signals in winter weather and described the continuing advancement of radar technology. <br /> <br />Motion by Chair Rader, seconded Councilmember Bullock to refer Resolution 2023-32 to Full Council with the <br />recommendation to adopt. All in favor.
