Councilmember Rader <br />Councilmember Rader introduced and elaborated upon the following budget priorities for 2024: <br /> Operationalize the Climate Action Plan <br />o Hire a consultant or new city employee to guide implementation of the plan <br /> Purchase new LFD water rescue craft to replace 10-year-old watercraft <br /> Replace old LFD extraction equipment with new electric battery powered equipment <br /> Invest in a City flag design process <br /> <br />Councilmember Bullock <br />Councilmember Bullock introduced and elaborated upon the following budget priorities for <br />2024: <br /> Continue and expand commercial property inspections <br /> Invest in properties to increase efficiency in partnership with NOPEC <br /> Continuously grow affordable housing strategy <br />Improve Wifi at Lakewood Park <br />Analyze parking capacity to optimize space <br />Install battery backup power at Cove Community <br /> Invest in communications and survey technology for the Council <br />Councilmember Baker <br />Councilmember Baker introduced the following budget priorities for 2024 related to park <br />improvements and speed enforcement: <br /> Invest in improvements to Niagara Park as outlined in the Capital Improvement Plan <br /> Invest further in traffic calming measures <br /> Enhance network of traffic guards <br /> Hire an Urban Forester, potentially funded by tree removal permit fees <br /> Invest in improvements for lake views at Edgewater and Webb <br /> <br /> <br />**Public Comment** <br />Cindy Strebig – 2066 Baxterly Ave. <br />Ward 3 Council Candidate Cindy Strebig relayed concerns, feedback,and ideas she has heard <br />from residents while campaigning. These include: <br /> Speed enforcement near St. Eds. <br /> Deer concerns near Lake Ave. <br /> Neighborhood rat issues <br />She also advocated for additional funding to support Lakewood Alive’s work with seniors and <br />more supportive services for the LGBTQIA community. <br />Councilmember Kepple acknowledged that more can be done to support LGBTQIA families but <br />also shared the existing resources offered at Cove. <br />Finance Committee adjourned at 8:53p.m. <br />4 <br /> <br /> <br />
