<br />MINUTES OF THE HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE <br />June 26, 2023 <br />AUDITORIUM <br /> <br />Present: Councilmembers Marx & Kepple <br />Also Present: Councilmember Baker, Law Director Vargo, Human Services Director Berry, <br />Assistant Director Jaissle, leaders from the Equius group, members of the public, Clerk Bach <br />Call to Order: 6:01 p.m. <br />Approval of the minutes of the Health & Human Services Committee held May 22, <br />2023. <br />Motion by Vice President Kepple, seconded by Councilmember Marx to approve the minutes of <br />nd <br />the May 22, 2023 meeting of the Health & Human Services Committee. All members voted in <br />favor. Minutes approved. <br />Communication from the Anti-Racism Task Force regarding the Equius Group <br />(referred to HHS 5/15/23) <br />Director Berry introduced the topic and explained that the Equius Group submitted a reply to an <br />RFP put out by the city and the Anti-Racism Task Force for the creation of a Racism Equity Plan. <br />After performing due diligence, the Anti-Racism Task Force (ARTF) highly recommended <br />Equius Group. Director Berry introduced Erica Merritt, Founder & President of Equius Group <br />and Alicia Love, Project Director and Consultant. <br /> <br />Ms. Merritt & Ms. Love introduced themselves and discussed the Equius Group and its work as <br />well as their personal, professional, and educational backgrounds. The voiced their intentions to <br />support the city and the Anti-Racism Task Force. <br />They delivered a presentation about the purpose of the racial equity plan, the deliverables they <br />will provide, and the various steps they will take to achieve the intended outcome. They spoke <br />about how they will build buy-in throughout the process so that once the process is complete <br />participants and the public will be energized to move forward. They spoke about how the racial <br />equity plan intersects with others recently performed by the city such as the Community Health <br />Needs Assessment and the Climate Action Plan. <br /> <br />Ms. Merritt & Ms. Love discussed the project management process and the steps that it will <br />entail including discovery, analysis, and recommendation phases. They spoke about their <br />intention to maintain a close working relationship with the city and the ARTF throughout the <br />process, including sharing findings with them before finalizing the plan. <br />In response to question the Equius Group explained that their process would kick of fin late <br />summer and last 18-24 months. <br />The Equius Group leaders spoke more about their plans to review ordinances policies, <br />procedures, documents, and data and that they will reply on Human Services and the ARTF to <br />Њ <br /> <br /> <br />
