The remaining balance will go <br />towards creating seating, fencing, landscaping, and a sidewalk connection from Halstead to the <br />park. <br />In response to questions from Councilmember Bullock, Director Leininger explained that this <br />project is not an official part of the Madison Park Master Plan as that has not been formalized <br />yet. He confirmed that if things were to change for some reason, they could reassign the use of <br />the cleared property. He also said that the original intent was to invest in the property to resale as <br />an affordable housing unit but that the projected rehabilitation costs were over $350,000 due to <br />the asbestos and the overall condition of the home. Councilmember Bullock also commented that <br />he hopes the mature trees on the property will be incorporated into the overall park canopy. <br />In response to a question from Councilmember Kepple, Director Leininger confirmed that they <br />have been in communication with the neighboring property owners and they still have concerns <br />but are amenable to the proposal, with the condition of having privacy screening along their <br />property lines. <br />On the motion: All in favor, motion passed.
