<br />MINUTES <br />OF A MEETING OF <br />LAKEWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />AUDITORIUM <br />February 20, 2024 <br />Regular meeting of the Lakewood City Council called to order at 7:35 PM by President Kepple. <br />**** <br />Present: Councilmembers Marx, Baker, Shachner, Kepple, Bullock, Strebig, Rader <br />Also Present: Mayor George, Law Director Vargo, Fire Chief Dunphy, Public Works Director <br />Gordon, Planning Director Leininger, Finance Director Rancatore, Police Chief Fischer, Human <br />Services Director Berry,and Council Staff. <br />**** <br />Motion by President Kepple, seconded by Vice President Shachner, to approve the minutes of <br />th <br />the February 5, 2024, General Meeting without the necessity of a reading. All in favor. Motion <br />passed. Minutes approved. <br />***OLD BUSINESS*** <br />1.Report from Committee of the Whole held Sunday February 4, 2024. (to be provided). <br />Councilman Baker delivered the following report: <br />T <br />he Public Safety Committee met earlier tonight to talk about the criminal code in Lakewood <br />as it relates to the possession, gifting, and drug abuse of marijuana considering Ohio’s recent <br />adoption of a referendum that legalizes the adult use of marijuana. We had a candid <br />discussion with the law department about potential code changes and policy considerations <br />that we may make as a Council. We ultimately decided to defer it further to allow more <br />1 <br /> <br />
