ORDINANCE NOo 4812 BY Mr. Fahrenbach <br /> <br /> AN ~RGENCY ORDINANCE creating positions and fixing the salaries of em- <br />ployes in the Division of Police, Department of Public Safety, beginning March 1, <br />1952, and repealing Ordinance Nee 4778, adopted September 4, 19~l,and all other <br />ordinanCes or parts cf ordinances inconsistent herewith. <br /> <br /> WHerEAS, an emergency exists in that it is deemed necessary by this Council <br />in the interest of public Services~ welfare and safety that the compensation of <br />employes be fixed effective March 1, 1952, and that this ordinance provides for the <br />usual daily operati, on of a n~cipal department~ now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY TH~ COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> ~ Section X~ That the Division of Police, Depart°nt of Public Safety of <br />the City of Lakewood shall consist cf the following ,,~ormed ranks, I t* VI in- <br />clusive, each to include the number of officers and employes designated who shall <br />receive the annual compensation specifically provided within the schedule of com- <br />pensation hereafter established for each such rank subject, however~ to the provi- <br />sions of Section 2 hereof: <br /> <br />VIc <br /> <br />1 Chief <br />2 Captains <br />3 Lieutenants ~-~ ~ <br />1 Supervisor of Safety Education <br />3Sergeants <br />1 PoliCewoman- $360Oeooper annum for the first <br />year of service, $3950e00 for the second year, <br />and $4300~00 after two years continuous service in <br />the Departaent~ <br />Senior Policewoman - 20 years or more continuous <br />service in the Department <br /> <br /> Not to exceed 60 patro~mentgroupedand se com- <br /> pensated according to period of service, to-wit: <br /> Group 1 $430Oe00 ea. per annum <br /> Group 2 $3950~00 eao per annum ~ <br /> <br />$6750°00 per -~um <br /> 575Oe00 ea. per annum <br /> 5000.00 ea. per annnm <br /> 5000.OOper annum <br /> 4800~OO ea. per annmn <br /> <br />4450e00 per annum <br /> <br /> Group 3 $36OOe00 ea~ per annum <br /> <br />provided that Group 1 shall consist of patrolmen who have continuously served in the <br />Division of Police two full years or who, in the Judgment of the Director of Public <br />Safety, have acquired equivalent tra~.~ng and experience in the Division of Police <br />of some other city; that Group 2 shall consist of patrolmen who have served contin- <br />uously in the Division of Police of the City of Lakewood for more than one year but <br />less than two years; that Group 3 shall consist of patrolmen who have served in the <br />Division of Police of the City of Lakewood for less than one ~ear; and provided <br />further that there shall be no increase in salary to an employ° by reason of said <br />grouping until certified by the Dire~or of Public S~fety. <br /> Section 2° The Chief of Police upon approval by the Director of Public <br />Safety is hereby authorized to detail not to exceed six patrolmen as Detectives and <br />while so detailed they shall receive a salary of $4630.00 each per annum° The Chief <br />of Police, upon approval by the Director of Public Safety, is hereby authorized to <br />detail six patrolmen as Accident Investigators and six patrolmen as Motorcycle Men <br />and while sO detailed regularly such patrolmen shall receive a salary of $~430~O0 <br />each per annum; provided further that any patrolmen so specially detailed may at <br />any time be returned to the duties performed and compensation received prior to <br />such special detail, by the Chief of Police with the approval of the Director of <br />Public Safety° <br /> <br /> Section 3° In addition to the ranks established by Section 1 hereof, the <br /> Division of Police shall include outside of said~,~*ormed ranks the following <br /> positions with compensation as designated: <br /> <br /> (a) 1 Custodian $ 3480~00 per ~um <br /> (b) 1 Stenographer-Clerk 4180~00 per annum <br /> (c) 1 Stenographer-Clerk 3000~00 per annum <br /> <br /> <br />
