ORDINANCE NO. 54-65 BY: Messrs. Bennett, Cain, Gaydos, Huffman, Ward, Wendling. AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to authorize an agreement with the Board of County Commissioners of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, for the exercise of certain powers and the rendition of certain services in connection with the service and maintenance of a Police Teletype System. WHEREAS, An emergency exists in order to provide for the preservation of the public property, health and safety and to provide for the usual daily operation of a municipal depart- ment; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section to This Council authorizes the Mayor, ex- officio Director of Public Safety to execute, on behalf of this municipality,an agreement with the Board of County Commissioners of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, in substantially the following terms: AGREEMENT THIS AGREEMENT made at Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, as of the 1st day of June, I965, by and between the City of Lakewood, an Ohio municipal corporation(hereinafter designated the "~gJNICIPALITY"), and the Board of County Commissioners of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, (hereinafter designated the "COMMISSIONERS'); WITNESSETH: (1) The MUNICIPALITY and the COMMISSIONERS agree, under the authority of Section 307.15 Revised Code of Ohio, that the COMMISSIONERS have and will continue to exercise the powers and render the services hereinafter provided in behalf of the MUNICIPALITY and for the consideration hereinafter stated in connection with the installation and maintenance of the Police Teletype System. (2) The COMMISSIONERS have procured the installation of the necessary equipment and instruments of the Ohio Bell Telephone Company to extend to the MUNICIPALITY and to the office of the Sheriff of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, a teletype system ~nd service generally similar tothe one now in- stalled~and in use in the City of Cleveland, so that the Police Department and the office of the Sheriff may have joint and reciprocal service thereof, together with joint and reciprocal service extended to such other municipalities as may enter into similar agreements with the COMMISSIONERS. The COMMISSIONERS have established a teletype network pro- viding intercommunication among at least ten (10) muni- cipalities in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and for such addition- al municipalities as may contract therefor in agreements similar to this agreement.
