<br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Sections 135.02 and 137.04 of the
<br />Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood relating
<br />to paid holidays for members' of the Division of Police and the Division of Fire
<br />of the City of Lakewood.
<br />
<br /> WUEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure, providing
<br />for the usual daily operation of municipal departments; now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. That existing Sections 135.02 and 137~04 of the Adminis-
<br />trative C'ode of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as
<br />follows:
<br />
<br />Section 135.02 HOLIDAYS
<br />
<br />Members of the Division of Police shall be granted as holidays New
<br />Year's Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence
<br />Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Members may be
<br />required to work on the foregoing named holidays; provided, however,
<br />that in the event any member is req~ired to work on any such holiday
<br />such member shall be granted time off, equal to the number of hours
<br />worked on the holiday, during a succeeding calendar week as designated
<br />by the Chief of Police, which time off shall apply on the work week as
<br />hereinbefore defined and limited.

<br />In the event a member's customary day off falls on any of said holidays,
<br />such member shall be given a day off in lieu of the holiday. In all
<br />snch cases the date. of such day or hours off duty shall be designated
<br />by the Chief of Police so as to ca~se minimum interference with customary
<br />and normal operation of the division0~
<br />
<br />Section 137.04 HOLIDAYS
<br />
<br />Members of the Division of Fire shall be granted as holidays New Year's
<br />Day,~ Good Friday, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day,
<br />Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Members may be required to work on
<br />the foregoing named holidays provided, however, that in the event any
<br />member~ is required to work on any such holiday such member shall be
<br />granted a day off, in lieu of such holiday. In the event any member
<br />is off doty on any such holiday for any reason other than sick leave
<br />or unexcused absence, such member shall be granted a day off, in lieu
<br />of such holiday.

<br />Birthday in the calendar year 1974 and each succce~ling calendar year
<br />thereafter. Members may be required to work on the foregoing named
<br />holidays; provided, however, that in the event any member is required
<br />to work on any such holiday such member shall be granted time off,
<br />equal to the number of hours worked on the holiday, during a succeeding
<br />calendar week as designated by the Chief of Police, wl~ich time off shall
