WIIEREAS, this Council has been advised that the City of Clevela~nd and other areas of the county have adopted legislation to permit an increase in taxicab fare rates in said areas, and W]IER. EAS, this Council deems it to be in tile best intere.~ts of the City and its residents that taxicab fare rates be reasonably comparable throu§hout the entire area served by taxicab companies, and WtlEREAS, this ordinance provides for the usual daily operation of a municipal department and for the immediate preservation of the public safety and welfare, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY ~]~E COUNCIL OF %11E CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. Tha~' paragraphs (a) and (b) of Section 769.08 of the Business Regulation Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, now~reading as follows: 769.08 RATES OF FARE (a) (b) Hctered Rates. (~) For tl~e 1st one sixth mile or fraction thereof $.060. (b) For each succeeding one sixth mile or £raCtion thereof $9.10. (c) For each additional passenger for the entire tr~p $0.25. (d) For each taxicab employed upon an hourly rate $6.00 per.hour. For waiting time, as hereinafter d~fined, charges may be made at the rate of not less than $4.20 per' hour ,or more than $6.00 per hour. Waiting time is deemed to include the time when the taxicab is not in motion, beginning at the place of arrival to which it has been called, or the time consumed while standing at the direction of the passenger. No charge shall be made for time lost because of the inefficiency of the taxicab or its operator, or for time consumed by premature response to the passenger's order. Hourly and Flat Rate. Taxicab may accept employment whereby the f~re is to be computed on an hourly rental basis or ,,pon a flat rate of one dollar and twenty cents for any ride wi. thin the city. ;A charge of $.25 ~y be made for each additional passenger. Taxicabs employed on the hourly basis shall operate within the city u'pon the following schedule of rates; not less than $4.20 per hour or fraction thereof for the first hour, nor more than $6.00 per hour, provided that charges fo~ use in excess of one hour shall be on the basis of one-sixth of an hour fractions of the rate charged for the 1st full hour. be and the same are hereby amended to read as follows: 769.08 RATES OF FARE (a) HcLcrcd Rates.
