McBride, Sinagra, Usher, <br />Brockman, Chinnock, Graber, Magnott <br /> <br /> AN EbIERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend paragraphs (a) and (b) of Section 769.08 <br />of the Business Regulation Code of tile Codified Ordi,ance:~ of the City of <br />Lakewood relating to taxicab fare rates in the City of Lakewood. <br /> WIIEREAS, this Council has been advised that the City of Clevela~nd and <br />other areas of the county have adopted legislation to permit an increase in <br />taxicab fare rates in said areas, and <br /> W]IER. EAS, this Council deems it to be in tile best intere.~ts of the City <br />and its residents that taxicab fare rates be reasonably comparable throu§hout the <br />entire area served by taxicab companies, and <br /> WtlEREAS, this ordinance provides for the usual daily operation of a <br />municipal department and for the immediate preservation of the public safety <br />and welfare, now, therefore, <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY ~]~E COUNCIL OF %11E CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. Tha~' paragraphs (a) and (b) of Section 769.08 of the <br />Business Regulation Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, <br />now~reading as follows: <br /> <br />769.08 RATES OF FARE <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Hctered Rates. <br /> (~) For tl~e 1st one sixth mile or fraction thereof $.060. <br /> (b) For each succeeding one sixth mile or £raCtion thereof $9.10. <br /> (c) For each additional passenger for the entire tr~p $0.25. <br /> (d) For each taxicab employed upon an hourly rate $6.00 per.hour. <br /> <br /> For waiting time, as hereinafter d~fined, charges may be made at <br /> the rate of not less than $4.20 per' hour ,or more than $6.00 per <br /> hour. Waiting time is deemed to include the time when the taxicab <br /> is not in motion, beginning at the place of arrival to which it has <br /> been called, or the time consumed while standing at the direction <br /> of the passenger. No charge shall be made for time lost because <br /> of the inefficiency of the taxicab or its operator, or for time <br /> consumed by premature response to the passenger's order. <br /> Hourly and Flat Rate. Taxicab may accept employment whereby the <br /> f~re is to be computed on an hourly rental basis or ,,pon a flat <br /> rate of one dollar and twenty cents for any ride wi. thin the city. <br />;A charge of $.25 ~y be made for each additional passenger. <br /> Taxicabs employed on the hourly basis shall operate within the city <br /> u'pon the following schedule of rates; not less than $4.20 per hour <br /> or fraction thereof for the first hour, nor more than $6.00 per hour, <br /> provided that charges fo~ use in excess of one hour shall be on the <br /> basis of one-sixth of an hour fractions of the rate charged for the <br /> 1st full hour. <br /> <br />be and the same are hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />769.08 RATES OF FARE <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />HcLcrcd Rates. <br />(a) For the Ist one-sixth mile or fraction thereof $0.80. <br />(b) For each s,,ccccdi'ng one-third mile or fraction thereof $0.20. <br />(c) For each additional passenger for the entire trip $0.25. <br /> <br /> <br />
