ORDINANCE NO. 73-79 BY: McBride, McNally, Salmon, Wendling Brockman, Brown, Chinnock AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 149.11 (a)(1) and 149.12 (a) of the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood relating to sick leave for hourly and annual salaried employees. WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That Section 149.11 (a)(1) of the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: 149.11 (a)(1) SICK LEAVE FOR HOURLY EMPLOYEES (a)(1) A full-time permanent hourly employee who has completed his probationary period shall be entitled to sick leave on account of illness or injury incapacitating him from work, without loss. of regular time pay, vacation, seniority or other rights or privileges, in an amount not to exceed ~be ~followi~g~,.~.Effec~ive..January 1, 1977, each employee with up to two years of service shall 'receive three days credited sick leave and thereafter shall earn one day per month beginning with February 1, not to exceed fourteen calendar days per year. Effective January 1, 1977, each employee with three through twelve years of service shall receive four and one-half days credited sick leave and thereafter shall earn one and one-half days per month beginning with February 1, not to exceed twenty-one calendar days per year. Effective January 1, 1977, each employee with thirteen years or more of service shall receive eight days credited sick leave and thereafter shall earn two days per month beginning with February 1, not to exceed thirty calendar days per year. In calculating sick leave hereunder, allowance shall be made for all time spent in the employment of the City, whether before or after the effective date of this section. be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 149.11 (a)(1) SICK LEAVE FOR HOURLY EMPLOYEES Effective January l, 1979, a full-time, permanent hourly employee, including Foreman Class A, who has completed his probationary period shall be entitled to sick leave on account of illness or injury incapacitating him from work, without loss of regular time pay, vacation, seniority or other rights or privileges, in an amount not to exceed the following: Years of Service Credited Days as of January 1 Earned Days per Mo. as of February 1 Total Sick Dass 0-2 3 1 14 3-12 4-1/2 1-1/2 21 13+ 8 2 30 Sick leave accrued prior to January l, 1979 shall be taken into account in computing the sick leave accum- ulation and conversion benefit of said employee pursuant to Section 149.111 of this Code. In calculating sick leave hereunder, allowance shall be made for all time spent in the employment of the City, whether before or after the effective date of this Section.
