ORDINANCE NO. 73-79 <br /> <br />BY: McBride, McNally, Salmon, Wendling <br /> Brockman, Brown, Chinnock <br /> <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 149.11 (a)(1) and 149.12 (a) of <br />the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood <br />relating to sick leave for hourly and annual salaried employees. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for <br />the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That Section 149.11 (a)(1) of the Administrative Code of the <br />Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: <br /> <br />149.11 (a)(1) SICK LEAVE FOR HOURLY EMPLOYEES <br /> <br />(a)(1) <br /> <br />A full-time permanent hourly employee who has completed <br />his probationary period shall be entitled to sick leave <br />on account of illness or injury incapacitating him from <br />work, without loss. of regular time pay, vacation, seniority <br />or other rights or privileges, in an amount not to exceed <br />~be ~followi~g~,.~.Effec~ive..January 1, 1977, each employee <br />with up to two years of service shall 'receive three days <br />credited sick leave and thereafter shall earn one day per <br />month beginning with February 1, not to exceed fourteen <br />calendar days per year. Effective January 1, 1977, each <br />employee with three through twelve years of service shall <br />receive four and one-half days credited sick leave and <br />thereafter shall earn one and one-half days per month <br />beginning with February 1, not to exceed twenty-one calendar <br />days per year. Effective January 1, 1977, each employee <br />with thirteen years or more of service shall receive eight <br />days credited sick leave and thereafter shall earn two days <br />per month beginning with February 1, not to exceed thirty <br />calendar days per year. In calculating sick leave hereunder, <br />allowance shall be made for all time spent in the employment <br />of the City, whether before or after the effective date of <br />this section. <br /> <br />be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />149.11 (a)(1) SICK LEAVE FOR HOURLY EMPLOYEES <br /> <br />Effective January l, 1979, a full-time, permanent hourly <br />employee, including Foreman Class A, who has completed <br />his probationary period shall be entitled to sick leave <br />on account of illness or injury incapacitating him from <br />work, without loss of regular time pay, vacation, seniority <br />or other rights or privileges, in an amount not to exceed <br />the following: <br /> <br />Years of Service <br /> <br />Credited Days as <br />of January 1 <br /> <br />Earned Days per Mo. <br /> as of February 1 <br /> <br /> Total <br />Sick Dass <br /> <br />0-2 3 1 14 <br />3-12 4-1/2 1-1/2 21 <br />13+ 8 2 30 <br /> <br />Sick leave accrued prior to January l, 1979 shall be <br />taken into account in computing the sick leave accum- <br />ulation and conversion benefit of said employee <br />pursuant to Section 149.111 of this Code. <br /> <br />In calculating sick leave hereunder, allowance shall be <br />made for all time spent in the employment of the City, <br />whether before or after the effective date of this <br />Section. <br /> <br /> <br />
