~'" ~RDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />28-92 <br /> <br />BY:Boscia, Gallagher, George, <br /> Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smitt <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing and directing the Mayor <br />ex-officio Director of Public Safety to enter into an agreement with the <br />Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Watercraft, for the <br />purpose of conducting a water-rescue training and boater-safety education <br />program through the Lakewood Fire Department. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources has awarded a <br />grant of $10,000.00 (Grant #16-92) to the City of Lakewood, Division of Fire <br />for the purpose of purchasing equipment, conducting water rescue training <br />and providing boater-safety education under a submitted program entitled, <br />"Safety and Rescue In and About Lake Erie and Its Tributaries", and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this program will enhance the effectiveness of water <br />rescue operations through the Division of Fire, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, <br />regarding boater <br />and <br /> <br />this program will provide for public safety education <br />safety, thereby reducing the risk for boating accidents, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the purchase of rescue equipment, the training of rescue personnel, and <br />the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare through an <br />educational boater-safety program; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor ex-officio Director of Public Safety <br />be and he is hereby authorized and directed to enter into an agreement with <br />the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Watercraft, to provide <br />for participation in the water rescue and boater-safety program---said <br />agreement being substantially in the~form as set forth in "Exhibit B", <br />attached hereto and made a part hereof; <br /> <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of <br />this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were <br />adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations <br />of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal <br />action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal <br />requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 3.
