<br /> AN ORDINANCE repealing Chapter 1737 of the Sanitary Code of the Codified
<br />Ordinances of the City of Lakewood..
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, public laundries no longer pose a health and safety risk to the community as
<br />they did in 1924 when Chapter 1737 of the Lakewood Codified Ordinances was enacted; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, all water and sewage drainage is adequately regulated by Registered
<br />Sanitarians through the State of Ohio, and for further reason that the City of Lakewood can re-
<br />allocate its resources to attend to contemporary public health and safety issues.
<br />
<br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF
<br />OHIO:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. That Sections 1737.01, 1737.02, 1737.03, 1737.04, 1737.05, 1737.06,
<br />1737.07, 1737.08, 1737.09, 1737.10, 1737.11, 1737.12, and 1737.13 of the Sanitary Code of the
<br />Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, now reading as follows:
<br />
<br />1737.01 LICENSE REQUI1LED.
<br />
<br /> No person, firm, corporation or association of individuals shall establish, maintain or
<br />operate any public laundry without having been licensed to do so by the Division of Public Health.
<br />Every person, firm, corporation or association of individuals establishing, maintaining or operating
<br />any public laundry shall, before being licensed, and for the purpose of paying the expense of the
<br />investigation and inspection hereinat~er provided for, pay to the Division of Public Health the sum
<br />of fffieen dollars ($15.00) for each year or fraction thereof. All licenses shall expire not later than
<br />the calendar year for which they were issued, irrespective of the date of issue.

<br />1737.02 APPLICATION.
<br />
<br /> Any person, firm, corporation or association of individuals desiring a license to establish,
<br />maintain or operate a public laundry shall make application therefor, in writing, to the Division of
<br />Public Health upon blanks prepared and furnished by such Division. Such application shall set
<br />forth the name of the applicant, and ifa corporation, the name and residence of the principal
<br />officers. It shall also state the location for which such license is desired. The applicant shall also
<br />state the number of rooms and apartments therein and such other information as the Division of
<br />Public Health may require. Upon the filing of such application with the Division, the official
<br />charged with the enforcement of this Sanitary Code shall investigate and report as herein
<br />provided.

<br />1737.03 IS SUANCE
<br />
<br /> Upon receipt of an application by the official charged with the enforcement of this
<br />Sanitary Code, he shall, within five days thereafter, make an examination of the premises
<br />described in such application for the purpose of ascertaining whether the location of such
<br />proposed laundry, the construction and ventilation thereof, the amount of space therein, and the
<br />sanitary and drainage arrangements and appliances are sufficient to properly protect the public
<br />health and the health of the person to be employed in such proposed lanndry; If such official shall
<br />find, upon examination, that the proposed laundry is so constructed and located that it can be
<br />kept, operated and maintained in accordance with the provision of this chapter, he shall return
<br />such application with his approval endorsed thereon, whereupon the Division of Licenses shall
<br />issue to such applicant, upon payment of the license fee as herein required, a license authorizing
<br />such applicant to establish, maintain or operate a public laundry at the place described in such
<br />
