ORDINANCE NO. 43-98 : BY: Corrigan, George, Roth, See!ie, Skindell, Smith AN ORDINANCE to submit to the electorate or'the CiD' ,~' £ Lakewood an .4xnendment to the Amended Charter of the City, of Lakewood. WHEREAS, pursuant to Anicte XVIIL Section 9 of the O,h/o Constitution petitions have been presented to Lakewood City, Council requesting an amendment to the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood; and WHEREAS, Lakewood City Council is required by the Ohio Constitution to submit the question of whether to amend the Charter to the electors; and ~AS, Lakewood City Council has no discretion to change or otherwise amend the Charter Amendment presented by petition; and WHEREAS, the Clerk of Council, through the Cayahoga County Board of Elections, has verified that the peridom contain a suffic'/ent number of signatures, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COL.'NCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO, Section 1. That the question of an Amendment to the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood shall be submitted to the votem at the election to be held Tuesday, November 3, 1998. Section 2. That the following question shall be submitted to the votem in the form pre~ented by the petitions, which is az follows: ORDrNANCE NO. -98 AN ORDINANCE FOR TI-IE SUBMISSION TO THE ELECTORATE OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE MUNICIP,qJ., CHARTER REt--kTIVE TO THE ADDITION OF SECTION 19, ARTICLE 3. VOTER APPROV,4L OF ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS AND DECLARING AN EMERGKNCY Whereas, a petition for the proposed amendment to the Lakewood City Charter has been submitted; Whereas, it has been determined that said petiuon contains sufficient number of valid signatures; Whereas. it is the duty of Council to forthwith make provisions for the submission of said proposed amendment to the electorate of the City. of Lakewood at an election to be held pumuant to law: Now, Therefore. be it ordained by the Council of~e City of Lakewood, Cuyahoga County, Ohio: Section 1.
