On behalf of Cleveland Clinic Regional Hospitals and Lakewood Hospital President Jack Gustin, <br />thank you for being a part of the hospital's great legacy of success. To commemorate this rich history, we <br />have published "A Century of Touching Lives," an attractive chronicle and pictorial history of Lakewood <br />Hospital. Thanks to the creative direction of the many committee members and the book's project manage- <br />ment team, this is a wonderful keepsake. If you have not received yonr copy, please e-mail your request <br />with name and address to president@lkwh.org and we will be happy to send you one. I also invite you <br />to take a few moments to review the centennial anniversary photos and video, which can be accessed on <br />the hospital website at www.lakewoodhospital.org. <br /> <br />As a key stakeholder in the Lakewood community, I would like to take a moment to share with you some <br />of the significant achievements of the last six months of 2007. Each of these activities sets out to address <br />the needs of the Lakewood community and each contributes to our key goals of quality, innovation and <br />growth, teamwork and service. Please know how mnch we value and appreciate your continuing support. <br /> <br />Enhancing Services <br /> <br />Lakewood Hospital Diabetes Center. In early August, Lakewood Hospital opened a comprehensive Diabe- <br />tes Center in the Lakewood Hospital Professional Bnilding. The first of its kind at any Cleveland west side <br />hospital, the center offers a full continuum of care from our new endocrinologists Sanjit Bindra, MD, and <br />Vikram Kumar, MD, as well as dietitians and diabetes educators in one, convenient location. <br /> <br />Facilities Renovations. In November, Lakewood Hospital completed a $1.6 million dollar renovation to <br />the Neuro Integrated Care Unit, which includes technological and comfort upgrades for the 9'bed unit <br />serving mOre than 2,000 patients a year. The re-opening of the state-of-the-art Neuro Integrated Care Unit <br />marks the completion of the second phase of a multi-million dollar three-year critical care renovation proj- <br />ect, with the final phase to renovate the hospital's Intensive Care Unit in 2008. <br /> <br />Becoming a Neurological Referral Center. Cleveland Clinic's Neurological Institote has expanded its <br />patient services to Lakewood Hospital. Support Îrom the Neurological Institote will enable the program <br />to continue growing with Arthur Dick, MD, Rami Hachwi, MD, and Sagarika Nayak, MD, caring for <br />patients on the west side. Lakewood Hospital's Neuroscience Center has received national recognition. <br />
