<br />MINUTES <br />OF A MEETING OF <br />LAKEWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />AUDITORIUM <br />January 2, 2024 <br /> <br />Regular meeting of the Lakewood City Council called to order at 7:39 PM by Councilman Bullock <br />**** <br />Present: Councilmembers Marx, Baker,Shachner, Kepple, Bullock, Strebig <br /> <br />Also Present: Mayor George, Fire Chief Dunphy, Public Works Director Gordon, Planning <br />Director Leininger, Finance Director Rancatore, Police Chief Fischer, and Council Staff <br /> <br />**** <br /> <br />th <br />Motion by Councilman Bullock to approve the minutes of the December 18, 2023 General <br />Meeting without the necessity of a reading. Councilmembers Bullock, Marx, Baker, Shachner, <br />and Kepple voted in favor. Councilmember Strebig abstained. Motion passed. <br />**** <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Bullock, seconded by Councilman Shachner, to elect Councilmember <br />Kepple to the position of President of Lakewood City Council. <br />Discussion: Councilman Shachner expressed his enthusiasm to vote for Councilmember Kepple. <br />He stated that he is looking forward to her continued great leadership. <br />Councilman Bullock stated that he is also looking forward to Councilmember Kepple’s excellent <br />and thoughtful leadership. <br />Councilmember Kepple thanked Council for their kind words. She emphasized that she is <br />committed to being a collaborative leader for the City. Councilmember Kepple also thanked the <br />citizens of Lakewood for their support. She noted that this is an extraordinary moment, <br />emphasizing that all three branchesof Lakewood’s government are now led by women. <br />On the motion: All in favor. Motion passed. Councilmember Kepple elected as President of <br />Lakewood City Council. <br />**** <br /> <br />Motion by President Kepple, seconded by Councilman Baker, to elect Councilman Shachner to <br />the position of Vice President of Lakewood City Council. <br />Discussion: President Kepple stated that Councilman Shachner is an exceptional leader and a <br />true champion of Lakewood’s values. <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
