<br />MINUTES <br />OF A MEETING OF <br />LAKEWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />AUDITORIUM <br />March 4, 2024 <br />Regular meeting of the Lakewood City Council called to order at 7:34 PM by President Kepple. <br />**** <br />Present: Councilmembers Marx, Baker, Shachner, Kepple, Bullock, Strebig, Rader. <br />Also Present: Mayor George, Fire Chief Dunphy, Public Works Director Gordon, Planning <br />Director Leininger, Finance Director Rancatore, Police Chief Fischer, Human Services Director <br />Berry, and Council Staff. <br />**** <br />Motion by President Kepple, seconded by Vice President Shachner, to approve the minutes of <br />th <br />the February 20, 2024, General Meeting without the necessity of a reading. All in favor. Motion <br />passed. Minutes approved. <br />Motion by President Kepple, seconded by Vice President Shachner, to move agenda item #7 to <br />the top of the docket. All in favor. Motion passed. Agenda item #7 moved to the top of the <br />docket. <br />***OLD BUSINESS*** <br />1.Report from Finance Committee meeting held February 26, 2024. (pg. 1) <br />Motion by Vice President Shachner, seconded by President Kepple, to receive and file the report. <br />Discussion:Councilman Bullock expressed his position that alternative fuel can reliably fuel <br />public safety vehicles. He argued that without concrete evidence or extensive studies proving their <br />unreliability, Lakewood should not dismiss these alternativesources. Furthermore, he highlighted <br />these vehicles have the potential to save taxpayers money due to their lower long-term maintenance <br />costs compared to traditional internal combustion engine vehicles. <br />On the motion: All in favor. Motion passed. Report received and filed. <br />2.RESOLUTION 2023-74 - A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it receives <br />the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or otherwise to take effect <br />and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, approving the City of Lakewood’s <br />Financial Internal Controls.
