MINUTES OF A MEETING OF LAKEWOOD CITY COUNCIL AUDITORIUM March 4, 2024 Regular meeting of the Lakewood City Council called to order at 7:34 PM by President Kepple. **** Present: Councilmembers Marx, Baker, Shachner, Kepple, Bullock, Strebig, Rader. Also Present: Mayor George, Fire Chief Dunphy, Public Works Director Gordon, Planning Director Leininger, Finance Director Rancatore, Police Chief Fischer, Human Services Director Berry, and Council Staff. **** Motion by President Kepple, seconded by Vice President Shachner, to approve the minutes of th the February 20, 2024, General Meeting without the necessity of a reading. All in favor. Motion passed. Minutes approved. Motion by President Kepple, seconded by Vice President Shachner, to move agenda item #7 to the top of the docket. All in favor. Motion passed. Agenda item #7 moved to the top of the docket. ***OLD BUSINESS*** 1.Report from Finance Committee meeting held February 26, 2024. (pg. 1) Motion by Vice President Shachner, seconded by President Kepple, to receive and file the report. Discussion:Councilman Bullock expressed his position that alternative fuel can reliably fuel public safety vehicles. He argued that without concrete evidence or extensive studies proving their unreliability, Lakewood should not dismiss these alternativesources. Furthermore, he highlighted these vehicles have the potential to save taxpayers money due to their lower long-term maintenance costs compared to traditional internal combustion engine vehicles. On the motion: All in favor. Motion passed. Report received and filed. 2.RESOLUTION 2023-74 - A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or otherwise to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, approving the City of Lakewood’s Financial Internal Controls.
