M.V. ORDINANCE N0. 84- 4 <br />Page -7- <br />of Council. A vacancy occurring during the term of any <br />member of the Commission shall be filled for the unexpired <br />term in the manner authorized for an original appointment. <br />The Commission shall designate one of its members as <br />Chairman, and may appoint a Secretary who need not be <br />a member of the Commission and may hold other municipal <br />office or appointment. <br />The ballot question for this proposed amendment to the Charter <br />shall read: <br />(I) Shall the Charter of Mayfield Village be amended to <br />provide that the Mayor's appointments to the Civil <br />Service Commission shall be confirmed by a majority <br />of the members of Council and that the removal of <br />any such member of the Civil Service Commission by <br />the Mayor is also subject to concurrence of a majority <br />of the members of Council? <br />J. Shall Section 11 (A) of Article V of the Charter of Mayfield <br />Village, Ohio, be amended to read as follows: <br />There is hereby created a Planning and Zoning Commission <br />which shall consist of the Mayor, one member of Council <br />selected by the Council annually, and five (5) electors <br />of the Municipality, not holding other municipal office' <br />or appointment in this Municipality (except as provided <br />in paragraph (B) of Section 12 hereinafter), to be <br />appointed for terms of five years by the Mayor, subject <br />to confirmation by a vote of fett~ A MAJORITY OF THE <br />members of Council; except that, of the five elector <br />members initially appointed for the terms beginning <br />January 1, 1975, one shall be appointed for a term of <br />one year, one for a term of two years, one for a term <br />of three dears, one for a term of four years, and one <br />for a term of five years. A vacancy occurring during the <br />term of any member shall be filled for the unexpired term <br />in the manner authorized for an original appointment. The <br />Mayor may at any time remove any member of the Commission <br />for inefficiency, neglect of duty, malfeasance, misfeasance, <br />or nonfeasance in office, incapacity or incompetency, <br />provided, however, that such removal from office shall <br />become final only after being confirmed by the affirmative <br />vote of fete A MAJORITY OF THE members of Council. <br />The term of office of the present members of the Planning <br />and Zoning Commission heretofore established by <br />ordinance of Council shall terminate upon the election, <br />appointment and qualification of the members of the <br />Commission provided for in this Charter. <br />
