M.V. ORDINANCE N0. 82-30 <br />Page -2- <br />(4) The Council Presi3ent shall appoint one (1) <br />member of Council to serve as a non-voting member <br />of the Commission. Age shall not be a factor in <br />this appointment. <br />(b) Term. The initial appointment by the Mayor and <br />two (2) of the initial appointments by Counc il shall <br />serve terms expiring December 31, 1983. The other two <br />(2) appointments by Council shall serve terms expiring <br />December 31, 1984. All subsequent appointments shall be <br />for terms of two (2) years. <br />The initial appointinent of a Coor.dinator by <br />Council shall serve a term expiring December 31, 1933. <br />A11 subsequent appointmerits of a Coordinator shall be <br />for a term of two (2) years. <br />The initial appointmerit of a Councilmember by <br />the Council President to serve on the Commission shall <br />be for a term expiring December 31, 1983. All subsequent <br />appointments of a Councilmember shall be for a term of <br />one (1) year. <br />147.03 COMPENSATION. <br />A11 members of the Commission on Agino shall serve <br />without compensation. <br />147 . 04 POWERS AND DUTIES a <br />The Commission shall adopt its own rules and regulations <br />to govern its activities. In addition, the Commission shall <br />elect one of its voting members as Chairman. <br />The Commission on Aging shall serve in an advisory <br />capacity to the Council on all matters relatin; to <br />aging and to recommend programs for the aging citizens <br />of the municipality and the means of implementing such <br />programs. The Commission may consider and make recommendations <br />in the following areas of concern relating to the problems <br />of aging, without limitation: <br />A. Referral Services or Senior Information <br />and Service Center On: <br />l. Job placemerit/skills banke <br />2. Medicare-?Social Security Information. <br />3. Emergency Services. <br />4. Telephone Assurance. <br />B. Health: <br />lo Increased or chanbing of existing services. <br />2. Voluntary service programs with medical <br />school, etc. <br />3e Preventive health program.
