RESOLUTIUN N0: 82- 73 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor & Council as a Whole A RESOLUTION RATIFYING THE ACTIONS OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL AND ESTABLISHING At7GUST 27, 28, A1VD 29, 1982, AS "BE'.CA DAYS" IN THE MT. VERNON CAMPUS PARK, ESTABLISHING TERMS AND COIVDI7IONS THEREFOR, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village recognize the current economic slump has adversely affected the business community as well as consumers; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council further recognize that the said economic slump has affectecT the businesses located in the Mt. Vernon Campus Park; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council recognize that since the opening of the Mt. Vernon Campus Park the.businesses located therein have provided substantial revenue to the municipality through the payment" of the municipal income tax; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have previously been requested to consider the operiing of the Mt. Vernon Campus Park on a weekend for the purpose of allowing the Park businesses to have "open houses" for the public and to conduct retail sales in order to reduce inventories; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Code of the municipality does not permit retail sales in the Mt. Vernon CaTnpus. Park; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have determined that the opening of the Mt. Vernon Campus Park on a weekerici for the purposes set forth hereinabove will be an aid to those businesses wishing to participate and would furthermore provide the residerits of the community an opportunity to visit the Mt. Vernon Campus Fark, therefore qualifying such a weekend for a temporary exemption from the Zoning Code; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have furthermore been advised that those businesses that would conduct retail sales during such a weekend event would contribute five percerit (5Q/o) of the"ir gross sales to the Community Room Construction Project; and LJHEREAS, having carefully considered a11 of the foregoing, the Mayor and Council have determined that, subject to the guidelines hereinafter set forth, August 27, 28,'anci. 29,- 1982 were designated as "$eta Days". in the Mt, Vernon Campus Park; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Couneil now wish to ratify the'ir actions in declaring "Be.ta Days" on the aforemeritioned dates; now, therefore,
