UNIFORM ALLO~A`~C~ AND MAINTENANCE. ._ (a} Each newly employed full-time officer of the police department having arrest powers and all full-time members of the fire department shall be reimbursed for the costs of uniforms purchased by that member for use in the member's employment in an amount not ex- ceeding $400.00. Each newly employed full-time member of the police department not having arrest powers shall be reimbursed for the cost of uniforms for use in that member's employment in an amount not exceeding $300.00. (b) Annually, thereafter, each full-time member of the police department having arrest powers and all members of the fire department shall be reimbursed for uniforms purchased in an amount not to exceed $300.00 per year while full-time members of the police department not having arrest powers shall be reimbursed for uniforms purchased in an amount not to exceed $250.00 per year. The uniform allowance may also be used for uniform maintenance. In the initial year of employment, each employee shall be entitled to draw advances against the amounts which would otherwise be due in the second year of employment. (c} The Finance Director is hereby authorized to reimburse all members of the Police and Fire Departments for expenditures made in accordance with Section 2(a} and (b} provided, however, that receipted bills evidencing the purchases are submitted together with an approval for payment by the Chiefs. The Finance Director is further authorized to make such distributions during January and July of each year for the prior six-month period. (d} Subparagraph (.c} of this Ordinance shall be effective January 1, 1981. (e} Each police officer, excluding the Chief of Police, shall be compensated in addition to the salary set forth in Section 1 for attendance required in Court if such appearance occurs while the police officer is not on duty. The police officer under these circumstances shall be paid the equivalent of two hours additional compensation computed at the officer's regular hourly rate provided in Section 1. (f} Each full-time member of the Service Department shall be reimbursed for work clothing purchased in an amount not to exceed $150:..00. per year. The Finance Director is authorized to make such distributions during January of each year,. Receipted bills evidencing the purchases will be submitted to the Building Commissioner for his approval and then on to the Finance Director for payment. The uniform allowance may also be used for uniform maintenance. (fig} There is to be no allowance for a part-time Police Dispatcher.
