ORDINANCE NO. 81-39 <br />INTRODUCED BY': Charter Review Commission in accordance with Charter <br />provisions <br />AN ORDINANCE SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS OF <br />MAYFI'ELD 'VI'LLAGE, OHIO, CERTAIN QUESTIONS A5 <br />TO THE AMENDMENT OF' THE CHARTER OF THE VILI;AGE; <br />PROVIDING FOR ALL NECESSARY`PROCEDURES. <br />BE iT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. The Charter of Mayfield Village, Ohio, Article XI, <br />having called for the election of a Charter Review Commission in <br />November, 1J8Q: and such Commission having been duly elected and <br />having completed its proposals, the following proposed amendments <br />are.submi~tted to the electors at the regular election to be held <br />in the municipality on the 3rd day of November, 1981. This submittal <br />shall contain a ballot question number and each individual question <br />shall carry an i:ndi:vidual letter-ed sub-heading. The questions are <br />as follows: <br />~~A. Shall Section 1 of Article ILI of the Charter of <br />Mayfield~Village, Qhio, be amended by deleting the current <br />Section in its entirety and substituting the following wording: <br />'The legislative powers of the municipality, except as otherwise <br />provided by the Charter and by the Constitution of the State <br />of Ohio, shall be vested i~n a Council of five members each <br />of whom shall be elected at large for a term of four years <br />commencing on the first day of January next after their election, <br />or until their successors ar-e elected and qualified:."' <br />The question to appear on the ballot shall be as follows; <br />(_A) Shall the Charter o~ 1ayfield Village be amended <br />to reduce the size ,of :Council.~.from:":never ~member::a Ito '~fi.ve:~::~-~ <br />members? <br />The next question to be submitted to the electors shall bey <br />~B. For the purpose of determining whether the municipality <br />shall be divided into wards or whether all Council people <br />-shall be elected at large, shall the current Section 1 of <br />Article I'I'I' of the Charter be modified,' or ,, correspondingly, <br />if a new Section 1 of Article III of the Charter is adopted <br />at the election to be held November 3,, 1981, shall that <br />newly adopted Section of the Charter be modified, to provide <br />an additional sentence as follows,, to be added to the end <br />of Section 1 of Article I'fiI, stating. "'The municipality <br />shall be divided into four wards as set forth in the appendix <br />to this Charter, and one member of Council shall be elected <br />from each ward, with. the remaining member or members of <br />Council to be elected at large."~ <br />
