ORDINANCE NO. $~-3.9 <br />Page -7- <br />This provision shall be operative as of certification by <br />the Board of Elections by Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and shall <br />terminate the existing term of the Finance Director, creating <br />a vacancy subject to appointment as set forth herein. <br />The ballot question shall be: <br />(I) Shall the position of Director of Finance of Mayfield <br />Village, which is now an elected position open only to resident-.s <br />of the municipality be changed to an appointed position without <br />a residency requirement, allowing the Mayor to make the <br />appointment based on professional qualifications subject to <br />confirmation by a majority of the members of the Village <br />Council? <br />Sectibri '2. .The Clerk of Council is authorized and <br />directed to certify a copy of this Ordinance to the Board of <br />Elections of Cuyahoga County immediately. upon its passage for <br />inclusion of the ballot at the general election to be held in <br />the municipality on the third day of November, 1981 and to take <br />such other steps as are required pursuant to Ohio law to cause <br />such election to be validly held. <br />Section '3. The Law Director is authorized, empowered and <br />directed to confer with the Board of Elections regarding the ballot <br />questions and to make any changes necessary to comply with current <br />election law so long as the substance of any issue is not changed. <br />In the event of the necessity of substantial change of an issue, <br />the Charter Review Commission and the Council shall be consulted. <br />Section '4. This Ordinance, being required by Charter, <br />is not subject to emergency or referendum provisions and shall take <br />effect immediately upon passage. <br />n1RENCE J .
