ORDINANCE NO. 81- 52 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Robert G. Beebe <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1119.11 OF <br />THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, <br />OHIO, ESTABLISHING MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS <br />FOR THE INSTALLATION OF STREET TREES. <br />WHEREAS, existing Section 1119.11 of the Codified Ordinances <br />of Mayfield Village, Ohio, does not specify, in detail, any <br />minimum requirements for trees installed pursuant to said Section; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council believe that the spirit and <br />intent of Section 1119.11 requiring the installation of street <br />trees in subdivisions, is such that the trees installed should <br />be of such stature that they are capable of surviving and flourishing; <br />now, therefore, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. Section 1119.11 of the Codified Ordinances. of <br />Mayfield Village, Ohio® is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />1119.11 STREET TREES. <br />The selection and spacing of trees shall be <br />in accord with a street tree plan approved by the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission. Trees should be <br />planted along new streets at an interval of fifty <br />(50) feet. Tree species should be selected with <br />such habit of growth that they will fill the space <br />desired within a reasonable time, producing a <br />pleasing effect in scale with adjacent developments. <br />Miniature tree species should not be used except <br />for special design considerations of scale, such <br />as in a mall, and not used merely as a means of <br />reducing pruning and a tree care program. Trees <br />of untried species, of unknown endurance or those <br />requiring frequent spraying should not be used. <br />Trees generally recommended along streets are <br />Red Maple, Norway Maple, Sugar Maple,- Red Oak, <br />White Oak, Thornless Honey Locust, London Plane, <br />Amur Cork and Sweet Gum. Trees which have <br />undesirable characteristics such as excessively <br />thick foliage, low branches, unpleasant odors, , <br />susceptibility to disease or attack by insects <br />or which have large root systems, such as Poplar, <br />
