<br />(b) Any portion of a roadway at an intersection or elsewhere,
<br />distinctly indicated for pedestrians crossing by lines or other'
<br />markings on the surface.
<br />Driver or operator. Every person t~rho drives or is in actual
<br />physical control of a vehicle.
<br />Emer~;encY vehicle. Fire department, police and state highway
<br />patrol vehicles and emergency vehicles of municipal departments or
<br />public utility corporations, t•rhen identified as such as required by
<br />law, or 1oea7: authorities, and motor vehicles ~•rhen commandeered by
<br />a police officer and ambulances.
<br />Explosives. The term "explosive" or "explosives" T,~rhenever used
<br />in this ordinance shall be held to mean and include any chemical
<br />compound or mechanical mixture that is intended for the purpose of
<br />producing an explosion, that contains any oxidizing and combustible
<br />units or other ingredients, in such proportions, quantities or pack-
<br />ing that an ignition by fire, by friction, by concussion, by percuss-
<br />ion, or by detonator of any part of the compound or mixture may cause
<br />such a sudden generation of highly heated gases that the resultant
<br />gaseous ,pressure are capable of producing destructive effects on
<br />contiguous objects, or of destroying life or limb.
<br />For the purpose of this ordinance manufactured articles shall
<br />not be held to be explosives when the individual units contain
<br />explosives in such limited quantities, of such nature, or in such
<br />packing, that it is impossible to procure a simultaneous or a
<br />destructive explosion of such units, to the injury of life, limb or
<br />property by fire, by friction, by concussion, by percussion, or by
<br />detonator, such as fixed ammunition for. small arms, fire crackers,
<br />safety fuse matches, et cetera.
<br />Gross freight. The weight of a vehicle ~~lus the weight. of any
<br />load thereon.
<br />Inflammable liquid. Any liquid tirhich has a flash point of
<br />~0 degrees Fahrenheit, or less, as determined by a tabliabue or
<br />equivalent closed cup test device.
<br />Sntersection. The area embraced within the prolongation of
<br />the lateral boundary lines of two or more highways tiArhich join one
<br />another: ~ ~~~
<br />Laved hi~hwaY. A hight~ray the roadway of ?•rhich is divided into
<br />three or more clearly marked lanes for vehicular traffic.
<br />Local authorities. Every county, municipal and other local
<br />board or body having authority to adopt local o_olice regulations
<br />under the constitution and laws of this state.
<br />T~Iatorc~cle, Every motor vehicle having a saddle for the use
<br />of the o;~e-rato~r and designed to travel on not more than three wheels
<br />in contact Tnrith the ground but excluding a~tractor.
<br />2~Iotor vehicle. Every vehicle propelled or drawn by power other
<br />than muscular poti~rer or pourer collected from overhead electric trolley
<br />wires, except road rollers, traction engines, power shovels, pourer
<br />cranes and other equipment used in construction work and not designed
<br />for or employed in general highway transportation, hole digging
<br />machinery, well drilling machinery, ditch digging machinery, farm
<br />machinery, threshing machinery, hay baling machinery, and agricultural
<br />tractors and machinery used in the production of horticultural, flori-
<br />cultural, agricultural and vegetable products.
<br />Person. Every natural person, firm, copartnership, association
<br />or corporation.
<br />Pedestrian. Any natural person afoot.
