<br />Sec.103. DAI01GE BY EYCAVATI0N. If the otvner or possessor of °ar?y lot
<br />oi land digs, or causes to be dug, any cellar, pit, vault, or excavata,on to a
<br />greater deptin than ninE (9 ) feet below the curb. of the street or streets on
<br />which such lot or land abuts, or , if there be no curb, belotiv the established
<br />grade of the street or streets on eurich such lots or land abuts, or, if tnere
<br />be no eurb or establislied grad.e, belovr the surface of thg adjoining 1°ots, arid
<br />by such excavation causes any damage to an,y wall, hottse or otYier building; up-
<br />on the lots adjoining t:riereto, such ocrrner or possessor sha11 be liable, in a
<br />civil action, to the party injured to the flill amoUnt of the damage afaresaid.
<br />1Vhen there is a curb or established grade, the depth of such excavation, at
<br />ar?y point thereof, shall be measured doeQnwa,rd from the pitch line projected
<br />laterall,y over the lot or land from and betrreen the corresponding points in the
<br />nearest curb or established grade opposite the ends of such pitch line.
<br />Sec.104e DEPTH OF EXCAVATION AI,LOl1iA3IE. S,i.ch owner or possessor may
<br />dig, or cause to be dug, any stiLch cellar, pit or exca.vation to the f.ill depth
<br />of any foundation vrall of any building upon the adjaining lo'Ll or lots or to the
<br />full depth of nine (-9) feet beloiv the estab].ished, grade of the street or stree-ts
<br />wliereon such lot abuts, 4vithout rEferenee to the depth of ad•joining foundation
<br />walls, without incurring the liability prescribed in thi's code, and may, on thirty
<br />(30) days' notice to adjoining ovvners, grade and improve the surfa.ce oi ar?y lot
<br />to correspond with the established grade of the street, streets or alley upon
<br />which sucll lot or" land abuts ivi-thout incu.rring liability.
<br />Sec.105. EXCAVATIOidS -BELONI FOOTINGS. Exca.vations in any buildi-ng or for
<br />the foundations of arLy iriachinery or for an,y ci`stern or pit of an tunnel or any
<br />se«er, ivatex, or other pipe running parallel with a foundation viall or the siclg
<br />of any supgorting pier, shall not be dug belova the bottom of the footirgs of such
<br />vall or pier when st,.ch excavata.ons extend within one (1) foot of the angle of
<br />repose or natural slope of the foundation soil underneath such foo'uirk,•s. The ex-
<br />cavatioils for the foundation of any vibratory machinery, engine or dyx4amo shall
<br />not be made within one (1) foo.t of the footings of an,y ti?rall or piero

<br />Sec.108. BUII.DINGS V.-.,IIHOUT A CEI,LEIR OR 13ASEqM. Ever.y buildino hereafter
<br />erected without cellar or basement shall have the sod and all eoi:lc-containino or-
<br />gailic ;na,tter rernoved before la,ying joists, and shall have in the exteriia.l walls be-
<br />low floor levels not less t'nan four (4) ventilators distributing on opposite sides
