<br />installation, alteration, replacement, or re-
<br />pair of electrical wiring or equipment, the
<br />Building Official may require the submission
<br />of drawings and/or specifications with the
<br />application for a permit. Such drawings
<br />and/or specifications shall be in sufficient
<br />detail to enable the Building Official to deter-
<br />mine whether the proposed work will be in
<br />conformity with the provisions of this Dwell-
<br />ing House Code.
<br />1597.06 Approved materials, appliances and
<br />equipment.
<br />(a) Board approval. All electrical ma-
<br />terial, devices, fixtures, appliances and
<br />equipment shall be of a type approved by the
<br />Board of Building Code Appeals.
<br />(b) Approval by accredited agency.
<br />Electrical material, devices, fixtures, appli-
<br />ances and equipment which are listed by the
<br />Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc. or approved
<br />by other accredited agencies, shall be
<br />deemed to be approved to the extent and as
<br />limited by the Board of Building Code Ap-
<br />peals unless and until formal action disap-
<br />proving such electrical materials, devices,
<br />fixtures, appliances, or equipment is taken
<br />by such Board.
<br />1597.07 Inspections, tests, and approvals.
<br />(a) Inspection required. All electrical
<br />wiring and equipment installed in or about
<br />any building shall be subject to the inspec-
<br />tion and approval of the Building Official.
<br />(b) Inspection of work to be concealed.
<br />No electrical wiring or parts thereof shall be
<br />covered or concealed without authorization
<br />to do so from the Building Official. It shall
<br />be the duty of the person obtaining the per-
<br />mit to give 24 hours' advance notice to the
<br />Building Official when work is ready for in-
<br />spection. Work shall be inspected as soon
<br />as practicable after receipt of such notice,
<br />and when found to conform to the provisions
<br />of this Dwelling House Code, an official
<br />notice of approval shall be affixed in a con-
<br />spicuous place by the Building Official.
<br />(c) Roughing-in. All roughing-in for elec-
<br />trical wiring shall be inspected and approved
<br />before any device, appliance or equipment
<br />is installed or connected.
<br />(d) Final inspection and approval. All
<br />work shall be submitted for final inspection
<br />and approval by the Building Official before
<br />being placed in service. If upon final in-
<br />spection, the electrical wiring and equipment
<br />is found to be complete and in conformity
<br />with the„ provisions of this Dwelling House
<br />Code, a certificate of approval shall be issued
<br />by the Building Official.

<br />(e) Material and labor for tests. Tests
<br />necessary to verify that the work has been
<br />installed in conformity with this Dwelling
<br />House Code shall be made in the presence of
<br />the Building Official. All equipment, mate-
<br />rial, power, and labor necessary for such
<br />tests shall be furnished by the person to
<br />whom the permit is issued.
<br />(f) Work that does not pass inspection.
<br />If the Building Official finds that the work
<br />does not pass the inspection required, the
<br />person to whom the permit was issued shall
<br />make the necessary corrections and the work
<br />shall then be resubmitted for inspection.
<br />1597.08 Turning on current.
<br />(a) Where previously supplied, When-
<br />ever apermit to install electrical wiring or
<br />equipment is required by this Dwelling
<br />House Code, electric current shall not be
<br />supplied to such wiring or to such equip-
<br />ment, except for testing, until authorization
<br />to do so has been given by the Building Of-
<br />ficial.
<br />(b) Where not previously supplied. When
<br />electrical current has not been previously
<br />supplied to premises where an installation of
<br />electrical wiring has been made, the service
<br />lines of the utility company supplying the
<br />electrical current, if connected prior to final
<br />inspection and approval, shall be connected
<br />through an opened switch which shall be so
<br />sealed that it shall be impossible to close the
<br />switch without breaking the seal. Such
<br />switch shall be closed only by a person au-
<br />thorized to do so by the Building Official,
<br />and it shall be a violation of this Dwelling
<br />House Code for any other person to break
<br />such seal or close such switch. Upon the in-
<br />stallation of such switch, a written notifica-
<br />tion thereof shall be sent to the Building
<br />Official.
<br />1597.09 Temporary wiring.
<br />(a) For emergencies or during construc-
<br />tion. The Building Official may permit the
<br />use of temporary wiring which does not fully
<br />-conform to the .provisions of this Dwelling
<br />House Code under emergency conditions, or
<br />during building construction, or under other
<br />conditions where the installation of per-
<br />manent wiring in conformity with the pro-
<br />visions of this. Dwelling House Code would
<br />impose unnecessary hardship.
<br />(b) 90-day period. Temporary wiring
<br />shall not be maintained for a period longer
<br />than 90 days, except that an extension of
<br />time maybe granted by the Building Official
<br />when the conditions have not changed from
<br />that under which the original .installation
<br />was permitted.

<br />SECTION 1. That there be, and there hereby is, adopted as the Dwelling House
<br />Cade of this Municipality, the following;
<br />TITLE ONE-TITLE, PURPOSE AND SCOPE
<br />CHAPTER 1. TITLE AND PURPOSE:
<br />1501.01 Title.
<br />This .ordinance shall be known and may
<br />be cited as "The Dwelling House Code of
<br />the Vi1~.dge c~~ liayf~ ela ~'
<br />1501.02 Purpose.
<br />Within the scope of this Dwelling House
<br />Code, as hereinafter defined, the purpose of
<br />this Dwelling House Code is to provide mini-
<br />mum standards to safeguard life or limb,
<br />health, property and the public welfare.
<br />CHAPTER 3. SCOPE AI~TD GENERAL. APPLICATION.
<br />1503.01 Scope.
<br />The provisions of this Dwelling House
<br />Code, as the same may be from time to time
<br />amended or supplemented,.shall apply to the
<br />location, design, materials, construction, al-
<br />teration, repair, equipment, use, occupancy,
<br />maintenance, removal and demolition of one-
<br />and two-family dwellings and appurtenant
<br />structures to the extent now or hereafter
<br />provided for herein, except in so far as such
<br />matters are otherwise specifically provided
<br />for in any other applicable law or ordinance.
<br />1503.02 Supplement to other laws or ordi-
<br />nances.
<br />The provisions of this Dwelling House
<br />Code shall supplement any and all laws of
<br />the State of Ohio, ordinances of this Munic-
<br />ipality, or any and all rules and regulations
<br />promulgated by authority of such law or
<br />ordinance applicable to buildings and other
<br />structures.
<br />in the materials, methods of construction, or
<br />other requirements specified in different Sec-
<br />tions of this Dwelling House Code, or be-
<br />tween the requirements of this Dwelling
<br />House Code and any other applicable law,
<br />ordinance, or rule or regulation of any ad-
<br />ministrative officer or board of this Munic-
<br />ipality, the more restrictive shall govern.
<br />1503.04 Zoning.
<br />It is not the intent of this Dwelling House
<br />Code to modify the restrictions of any zon-
<br />ing ordinance or law or any other ordinance
<br />or law relating to the use of land or the con-
<br />struction, repair, maintenance, improvement,
<br />destruction or removal of buildings. Such
<br />zoning restrictions, or other law or ordi-
<br />nance, shall control, except where the pro-
<br />visions of this Dwelling House Code per-
<br />taining to the structural, fire and sanitary
<br />safety, are more restrictive, in which case,
<br />the provisions of this Dwelling House Code
<br />shall control.
<br />1503.03 Interpretation upon conflict.
