ORDINANCE No. 479 <br />By Mr. Whiting <br />AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL ORDIldANCES NOS. 402 and 427 <br />ANA TO PROVIDE FOR THE COMPENSATION OF THE ~uau.~arT. <br />AND CHIEF OF POLICE AND SPECIAL POLICEI~N. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIZ OF THE VILLAGE OF HAYFIELD' CUYAHOGA <br />COiJNTY, OHIO THAT:. _ <br />Sec. 1, The Police Department of the Village of Mayfield shall <br />consist of the following offices: <br />(a) Marshall, who shall, be designated as Chief of Police <br />and shall b® an elector of the Village of Mayfield. <br />(b) Special Policemen. <br />Sec. 2: Appointment and tenure. All officers of the Police <br />Department sYi~ be appointed by the Mayor, by.~:and with the eonserit of <br />Council, Appointment of the Marshall and Chief of Police shall b e made <br />according to the laws of the State of Ohio for a probationary period <br />of six months continuous service. At the end of such probationary period <br />the Mayor shall transmit to Council the record of the service. of such <br />appointee, with .his recommendations thereon, and such appointment shall <br />then become final upon approval by both the Mayor and Council. There- <br />after the term of the person so appointed shall be according to the laws <br />of the State of Ohio. No special policeman shall be appointed for arty <br />period exceeding three months at one time. <br />Sec. 3. Co ~er~ation. The following, compensation shall be <br />paid from and after .August st, 1953, but may be changed at ar~r time by <br />Council by ordinance or resolutions <br />Mar$hall.or Chief of Polic®, ~40J.OO per month. <br />Special Policeman $1.25 for each hour during <br />. which-he serves as such on assignment <br />by the- Mayor or~ Chief of Police. <br />The total number of houra to be served by all Special Policemen <br />during arty one week shall not be in excess of 50 but Council <br />may change the maximum number of hours at arty time by ordinance' <br />resolution or motion. ~Speci~l arrangements may be made by <br />Council with special policemen whereby they shall not be paid <br />for arrsr police service performed in connection with the; <br />operation of their ovm business. <br />
