ORDINANCE No. 479 By Mr. Whiting AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL ORDIldANCES NOS. 402 and 427 ANA TO PROVIDE FOR THE COMPENSATION OF THE ~uau.~arT. AND CHIEF OF POLICE AND SPECIAL POLICEI~N. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIZ OF THE VILLAGE OF HAYFIELD' CUYAHOGA COiJNTY, OHIO THAT:. _ Sec. 1, The Police Department of the Village of Mayfield shall consist of the following offices: (a) Marshall, who shall, be designated as Chief of Police and shall b® an elector of the Village of Mayfield. (b) Special Policemen. Sec. 2: Appointment and tenure. All officers of the Police Department sYi~ be appointed by the Mayor, by.~:and with the eonserit of Council, Appointment of the Marshall and Chief of Police shall b e made according to the laws of the State of Ohio for a probationary period of six months continuous service. At the end of such probationary period the Mayor shall transmit to Council the record of the service. of such appointee, with .his recommendations thereon, and such appointment shall then become final upon approval by both the Mayor and Council. There- after the term of the person so appointed shall be according to the laws of the State of Ohio. No special policeman shall be appointed for arty period exceeding three months at one time. Sec. 3. Co ~er~ation. The following, compensation shall be paid from and after .August st, 1953, but may be changed at ar~r time by Council by ordinance or resolutions Mar$hall.or Chief of Polic®, ~40J.OO per month. Special Policeman $1.25 for each hour during . which-he serves as such on assignment by the- Mayor or~ Chief of Police. The total number of houra to be served by all Special Policemen during arty one week shall not be in excess of 50 but Council may change the maximum number of hours at arty time by ordinance' resolution or motion. ~Speci~l arrangements may be made by Council with special policemen whereby they shall not be paid for arrsr police service performed in connection with the; operation of their ovm business.
