Council_herebg adopts, ratifies-and ~rsfirms and incorporates <br />herein, effective as, of August lets 1953, all payments made to the <br />Chief of Police under authority of a Motion duly passed by Council <br />at its meeting of July 20, 1953, in accordance with the authority <br />granted to Council .by Ordinance-No, 427. It is the intent of <br />Council that th® Marshall or Chief of Police shall be paid an <br />amonat of compensation for the balance of the year 1954, ~:~ <br />is sufficient, :when added to the compensation received in the <br />last five months of 1953 and in the first nine months of 1954, <br />to equal the total•aum of-X6800.00. <br />Sec. 4. Bond. Each officer of the Police Department shall gave <br />bond in the .sum -of~~.00, with good and sufficient -surety, to be approved <br />by the Mayor• <br />Sec. 5• Duties of Officers. The. Chief of Polic® shall be employed <br />on a full-time basis as the peace officer of the Village and the executive <br />head of the. Police Department under the Mayor. <br />Special Policemen shall assist the Chief of Police in the <br />performance of his duties shall be under his direction and shall <br />exercise all posers granted to them bylaw. <br />Sec. 6., Esdsting ordinances Nos. 402 and 427 and ac~r other <br />ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed on and after this <br />date. -- <br />Sec. 7._This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />~.:. <br />measure, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace. <br />health and safety~of the Village of Mayfield and its inhabitants, because <br />of the necessity of providing the maximum.polic~ protection within the <br />limits of the funds available for that purpose, and shall..take effect <br />and be in force .from and after the date.~of its passage. .. <br />Passed -this 18th day oY October, 195t~. <br />
