Council_herebg adopts, ratifies-and ~rsfirms and incorporates herein, effective as, of August lets 1953, all payments made to the Chief of Police under authority of a Motion duly passed by Council at its meeting of July 20, 1953, in accordance with the authority granted to Council .by Ordinance-No, 427. It is the intent of Council that th® Marshall or Chief of Police shall be paid an amonat of compensation for the balance of the year 1954, ~:~ is sufficient, :when added to the compensation received in the last five months of 1953 and in the first nine months of 1954, to equal the total•aum of-X6800.00. Sec. 4. Bond. Each officer of the Police Department shall gave bond in the .sum -of~~.00, with good and sufficient -surety, to be approved by the Mayor• Sec. 5• Duties of Officers. The. Chief of Polic® shall be employed on a full-time basis as the peace officer of the Village and the executive head of the. Police Department under the Mayor. Special Policemen shall assist the Chief of Police in the performance of his duties shall be under his direction and shall exercise all posers granted to them bylaw. Sec. 6., Esdsting ordinances Nos. 402 and 427 and ac~r other ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed on and after this date. -- Sec. 7._This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency ~.:. measure, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace. health and safety~of the Village of Mayfield and its inhabitants, because of the necessity of providing the maximum.polic~ protection within the limits of the funds available for that purpose, and shall..take effect and be in force .from and after the date.~of its passage. ..
