Sufficient jointing compound shall be used to cause the compo>nd to be squeezed <br />out on the interior and exterior surfaces of the pipes tivhen the pipes are shoved <br />to~;ethcr, ar}d all of the annular space of the joint must be completely filled. <br />The joints shall be tro~~elled smooth, on both interior and exter~.or surfaces of <br />the pipe, ~,~~~ucut the~.r circumference. <br />In applying' the bituminous jointinl_• compound, no admixtures of any kind, <br />such as cement or sand, shall be added to or mixed ~.~rith the compound. The corr!- <br />pound shall be prepared or mixed strictly in accordance 1~vith the manufac~ur~r's <br />directions. Propep precautions shall be taYen to prevent water, mucl, fresh <br />concrete, or other fone~gr! substances from coming into contact with the joi.nti.nz, <br />compound during, jointing operations . t',ll Wipe joints mast be dry wher! the <br />compound is applied. <br />Previous to being- loin*ered into the trencY-,, each pipe shall be carefully <br />inspected and those not rr~eet:i.n~ the specified requirements shall be either de- <br />stroyed or immeciiately removed fro_~~ the site of the work. The sanitary se~~rer trench outside the pipe shall_ be• ccm- <br />pletely filled v~2th class "C-" concrete, ~vi.th a rainimrrr~l. of three inches (3") of <br />concrete beloti^r the bottom of the ~~ip~:, and a ;~-Lnimt!rn of six inches (6") of con- <br />crete on each site of the pipe, and extendin~• u1~ to the bottom of the stn:~nr se~~~i.:_~ . <br />The storm sewer pipe shall be laid bn a cradle o~_' class "C" concrete, with a <br />mi nimtun of three inches (3") belov~~ the bottom o.f tl'ie pirse, and extending up <br />around the sides of the pipe to the J.ir:i_ts sho-~Jri on the plans.
