The Contractor shall <br />be responsible for any damage resulting from transporting, storage or use <br />of explosives in blasting. The Contractor's method of procedure relative <br />to blasting shall conform to State laws and 'to local is4unicipal ordinances. <br />(e) BELL rIOT~NS REQUL~wD: Bell holes of ample dimensions shall be <br />dug in earth trenches at each joint to permit the jointing to be made <br />properly. Adequate clearance for properly jointing pipe in rock or shale <br />trenches shall be providecl at bell holes, <br />(f) BRAG AND SII~aETED '1"_~rNCHES: 1-;11erever necessary to prevent <br />caving, excavations in sand, gravel, sandy soil, or' other unstable <br />material shall be adequately sheeted and braced ',There sheeting and <br />bracing are useci, the trench width shall be increased accordingly. <br />Trench sheeting shall remain in place until pipe has been laid, tested <br />for defects arst ret_~airect, if necessary, and the earth around it compacted <br />to a depth of one foot (1 ~) over tYie top of the pipe, Sheeting left in <br />trench by order of Engineer Vrill be paid for at price bid per thousand <br />(N) feet o <br />(g) DRAINAGE: The Contractor shall., 1v'rien ordered by Inspector, <br />construct tight bullcheads across trench and provide pumps suitable for <br />the removal of any water which may be en'cot~ntered or V.~hich may accumulate <br />in the trenches. In no case shall trench vrater be permitted to rise upon <br />or flow through the vrater main. <br />(h) EXISTIivTG ~-1ATER COURSES : In open israter courses, ditches or pipes <br />encountered dtu^ing the progress of the z^ro.rk, the Contractor shall at his <br />own expense provide for the protection and securing of a continuous flew <br />in such courses or pipes and shall ropair any damage that may be done by <br />reason of them. <br />(i) ROAD SI1R1I'ACES, CURBING, DRIVEi~iAYS AMID S1vE'l~~rALKS: The Contractor <br />shall remove all pavements, road surfaces curbing, driveways and side- <br />_~~. <br />
