BY ORDINANCE No. 518. _ <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COIINCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF i~1AYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COIJN`I'~' <br />OHIO, THAT : _ - - - _ - . <br />Sec. 1. The Police Department of the Village of Mayfield shall <br />consist of the following members: <br />(a) Marshall, who shall. be designated as Chief of Police; <br />(b) erg geant of Police; ~ . <br />(c) gular olicemen; <br />(d) n~ec3.a1 oll~`icemen, <br />Sec. 2. A~~ointment and Tenure. All members of the Police Department <br />shall be appointed by t- he Mayor, by'. and-r~rith the consent .of Council <br />' ~.ppointment of th® T~arshal7. and Chief of Police, Sergeant of Police and <br />Regular Policemen sha]1 be made according. to the la~,rs of the State of Ohio <br />for a probati.onery period of six months continuous service. At the end <br />of such probationers' period, the Mayor shall transmit to Council the <br />record of •the service of such appointee, with his recommendations thereon, <br />and such appointment shall then become-final upon approval by both the <br />Njayor and Council9 Thereafter the term of the person so appointed shall. <br />be according to the laws of the State of Ohio. No Special Policeman shall <br />be appointed for any period exceeding three months at one timed <br />Sec. 3. Co ensation. The following compensation shall be paid, <br />beginning as of une st, 957, but may be changed at any time by council <br />by ordinance or resolution: <br />Marshall or Chief of Police -• X5000.00 per year <br />Sergeant of Police, and Regular . <br />Policemen at the r ate of x.300.00 per year <br />Special Policeman laSQ per each hour during <br />which he serves as such on <br />assignment by the P'1ayor or <br />Chief of Police. <br />The total number of hours to be served by a]a. Special Policemen <br />during any one week shall not exceed 6~., but Council may change the maximum <br />' number of hours at any time by orclinance or resolution, Provided, however, <br />that the I'~ayor at his discretion may authorize the employment of special <br />Policemen in excess of 61~ hours a week and the employment of regular <br />policemen after their regular t~orking hours, at the rate of X1.50 per hour, <br />for the sole purpose of serving summons and notices upon and, arresting <br />
