Sec. 1. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 583, entitled: °tAn Ordinance To Provide For the~Tenure and Compensation of Members of the Police Department, to Add the Position of Sergeant of Police and to Repeal Ordinance,No. 479, as Amended by Ordinance No. 5480°, as amended by Ordinance No. 755, is hereby amended to read, as follows: . "Sec. 3. Compensation and Allowance for Unif orms. The following compensation shall be paid, beginning as of April 1, 1963, but may be changed by Council, by Ordinance or Resolution: Marshall or Chief of Police $7000.00 per year Sergeant of Police $5950.00 per year Regular Policeman, at the rate of $4800.00 per year for a six month probationery period, thereafter at th e rate of $5000.00 per year . for 6 months and then at the rate of $5400000 per year In addition, the Marshall or. Chief of Police, the Sergeant of Police, and any Regular Policeman shall be paid at the rate of $1.85 for each hour spent by him in operating or assisting in the operation of radar equipment on the public highways in the Village of Mayf field after his regular work shift or after his regular working hours0 Special Policemen - - $1.85 per each hour during which he serves on such an assignment by the Mayor or Chief of Police. The total number of hours to be served by all Special Policemen during any one week shall not exceed 64, but Council may change the maximum number of hours at any time by Ordinance or Resolution. Provided, however, that the Mayor at his discretion may authorize the employment of Special Policemen in excess of 64 hours a week and the employment of Regular Policemen after their regular working hours, at the rate of $1.85 per hour, for the purpose of serving summons and notices-upon and arresting persons within and outside of the Village of Mayf field who have failed to
