•. , , , . <br />' ORDINANCE NO. 2184 <br />,;. <br />BY COUNCILMEMBER MARSTON <br />, AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR A CONTRACT FOR THE EXCHANGE <br />OF THE SERVICES OF THE GATES MILLS JAIL FACILITIES FOR <br />THE USE OF THE MAYFIELD VILLAGE AMBULANCE AND EMERGENCY <br />MEDICAL SERVICE. <br />WHEREAS, Mayfield Village and the Village of Gates Mills <br />are both municipal corporations established pursuant to the <br />Constitution and laws of the State of Ohio; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 734.04 of the Ohio Revised Code provides <br />that municipal corporations may contract with each other for <br />the interchange of police services or equipment; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 9.60 of the Ohio Revised Code provides <br />that municipal corporations may contract with each other for <br />the interchange of fire protection services, including but <br />not limited to ambulance and emergency medical service; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village have <br />determined that it is in the best interests of the municipality <br />to contract with the Village of Gates Mills for the imprisonment, <br />maintenance, and feeding of Mayfield Village prisoners; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Village of Gates <br />Mills have determined that it is in the best interests of the <br />municipality to contract with Mayfield Village for ambulance <br />and emergency medical services; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayors and Councils of the respective munici- <br />palities have determined that the exchange of services, as <br />aforesaid, constitutes a fair and equal exchange of services; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayors and Councils of the respective inunici- <br />palities have further determined that the interchange of the <br />aforementioned services will operate in the best interests <br />of the health, safety and welfare of the residents of each <br />municipality; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayqrs and Councils of the respective munici- <br />palities have implemented the aforementioned exchange of services <br />on a trial basis for a period of six (6) months from and after <br />the date on which thejail facility of the Village of Gates <br />Mills was certified by the State of Ohio Department of <br />Rehabilitation and Correction, pursuant to a written Agreement <br />between said municipalities dated May 21, 1984; and <br />
