RESOLUTION N0. 84-3 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a U7hole <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE MAYORS AND <br />COUNCILS IN THE HILLCREST AREA TO <br />RECOGNIZE THE HILLCREST FIRE CHIEFS <br />ASSOCIATION, TO PROVIDE SUCH <br />SUPPORT AS IS NECESSARY TO FOSTER <br />THE GROWTH OF THAT ASSOCIATION AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Chiefs of Police of the Hillcrest Area have <br />previously organized the Suburban Police Anti-Crime Network to foster <br />cooperation and enhance law enforcement effectiveness between the <br />police departments of the Hillcrest area;,and <br />WHEREAS, the Fire Chiefs of the Hillcrest area have <br />determined that it is in the best interests of the residents in the <br />Hillcrest communities to organize a similar coordination of efforts by <br />and between the Hillcrest area Fire Departments; and <br />WHEREAS, the Fire Chiefs in those communities have formed <br />the Hillcrest Fire Chiefs Association, whose membership consists of <br />the Fire Chiefs from Mayfield Village, Highland Heights, Richmond <br />Heights, Mayfield Heights, Lyndhurst, South Euclid, Beachwood, Pepper <br />Pike and Gates Mills; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hillcrest Fire Chiefs Association has been <br />meeting monthly since May, 1983; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hillcrest Fire Chiefs Association has been <br />diligently working toward a collective and cooperative effort to <br />provide the best and most economically feasible service in the areas <br />of fire protection and prevention and in supplying emergency medical <br />service; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hillcrest Fire Chiefs Association has begun <br />discussions to plan for the expected growth of the Hillcrest area by <br />formulating preliminary plans for automatic aid responses, arson <br />investigation teams, disaster coordination, central fire and emergency <br />medical service dispatching, hazardous material response teams and the <br />possibility of group purchasing; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hillcrest Fire Chiefs Association has not, to <br />date, received the recognition of the Mayors and Councils of the <br />Hillrest area; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hillcrest Fire Chiefs Association sincerely <br />believes that the support lent by its recognition by the Mayors and <br />Councils will provide the necessary impetus to enhance the growth of <br />the Association thereby increasing the effectiveness of the member <br />
