I RESOLUTION NO. 88-60 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole <br />A RBSOLUTION <br />OBJSCTING TO THS SSTABLISHMENT OF A COMPIERCIAL <br />COMMUTER AIRLINB AT CUYAHOGA COUNTY AIRPORT. <br />WHEREAS, a public hearing was held in the Mayfield High School <br />Auditorium on the evening of January 27, 1977 for the purpose of <br />reviewing proposed expansion plans for the Cuyahoga County Airport; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, at this public hearing, testimony and comments from <br />residents of the Hillcrest Area made it abundantly clear that there <br />was great opposition to the expansion; and <br />WHEREAS, from numerous public expressions, in the form of <br />Council Resolutions, petition drives, demonstrations, and meetings <br />with the Commissioners, during the period from 1977 to 1981, it was <br />further demonstrated that expansion o£ the Cuyahoga County Airport, <br />whether in facilities, services or traffic, was highly objectionable <br />to the residents of the Hillcrest area; and <br />WHEREAS, following the objections of the residents, the then <br />, elected Cuyahoga County Commissioners pledged to refrain from <br />expanding the size or services of Cuyahoga County Airport, and <br />WHEREAS, since the above-described period expansion plans have <br />been curtailed, except for necessary safety-related improvements, <br />and the emphasis at Cuyahoga County Airport has shifted to <br />development of an Industrial Parks which has brought employment and <br />tax revenue to the County and the Hillcrest Area; and <br />WHEREAS, it has recently become known that certain <br />entrepreneurs have indicated an interest in establishing a commuter <br />airline, to be known as Air-Limo Express, which would be based at <br />Cuyahoga County Airport, and which would provide regularly scheduled <br />passenger service between Cuyahoga County and nearby cities; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, <br />highly object to the establishment of a commercial commuter airline <br />at Cuyahoga County Airport believing that the same would be in <br />conflict with the understanding which has existed with the County <br />Commissioners because: <br />(a) A commuter airline with regularly scheduled <br />arrivals and departures would add considerably <br />to the noise level in the area around the airport <br />and in the flight paths extending from the airport; <br />(b) The increase in talce-offs and landings would be <br />detrimental to the health, safety, and welfare of <br />the residents since, in order to attract business
