CUYAHOGA COUNTY PLAN OE <br />CbOPERATION REGARDING <br />CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT <br />Page 4 <br />2. 'L he responsibilities of the county prosecutor are to include: (cont.) <br />d. Legal direction and interpretation of issues regarding child abuse <br />and neglect and prescribed referral procedures to respective law <br />enforcement agencies. <br />3. All parties agree to make known to parents who fear that they may hurt <br />or have hurt their children that they can voluntarily call the <br />Cuyahoga County Department of Human Services, Social Services, for <br />help. The Cuyahoga County Department of Human Services, Social <br />Services, will initiate social worx counselling with the parents and <br />will provide and/or obtain other necessary services from community <br />resources. <br />4. The M3Yfield Village Police Department agrees to <br />Law L•'ntorcement Agency <br />arrange for the Cuyahoga County Department of Human Services to meet <br />with its stab and to provide them with information regarding the <br />functions and services of the Cuyahoga County Department of Human <br />Services, Social Services and how the officers can obtain help for <br />families and children. <br />5. TFi'e Mayfield Village Police Department agrees to <br />Law Entorcement Agency <br />maze all its officers aware of their legal responsibility and duty to <br />report all cases of suspected child abuse and/or neglect to the <br />Cuyahoga County Department of Human Services, Social Services. <br />b. The Cuyahoga County Department of Human Services, Social Services, as <br />the agenc~ designated by statute, shall, through its "Chi1d_Abuse <br />Registrar' file all reports of child abuse and/or neglect with the <br />Cuyahoga County Child Abuse Registry and the Central State Registry <br />maintained by the Ohio Department of Human Services. <br />7. Section 2151.3421 of the Ohio Revised Code provides that "Any repert <br />made under this section is confidential, and any person who permits or <br />encourages the unauthorized dissemination of its contents is guilty of <br />a misdemeanor of the fourth degree." <br />8. The Cuyahoga County Department of Human Services, Social Services, <br />shall report the results of its investigation in writing to the <br />Law t:ntorcement Agency <br />In accord with the declaration of the law that family units be pre- <br />served and that confidentiality be respected, it is agreed by the <br />parties that such reports shall be limited to the action taken or <br />intended to be taken by the Cuyahoga County Uepartment of Human <br />Services, Social Services and whether or not further law enforcement <br />action is required. Should the Law Enforcement Agency in question <br />require further information for the purposes of assessing its own law <br />enforcement duties, such information must be requested in writing. <br />
