M.V. ORDINANCE N0. 88- 26 Page -2- RDHC 1553.02 DETACHED GARAGES. (Amended) (c) WOOD-FRAME CONSTRUCTION. A one-story garage, more than 10 feet .from the dwelling, built of wood frame construction, shall comply with construction require- ments for one-story dwellings with the following exceptions: i. Bottom of footings of frame garages shall be 12 inches wide and not less than 36 inches below finished grade. ii. Studs shall have a spacing of not more than 16 inches o.c. Doubling of studs shall be required on jamb openings 3' - 6" wide or more. iii. Sheathing shall be one-half inch CDX plywood only covered by a minimum 15 ~~ felt building paper. RDHC 1553.05 DRAINAGE. (Amended) There shall be at least one drain inlet serving a garage. All interior drains from attached or detached garages shall be directed to the sanitary sewer system. If a storm sewer is available, all down spouts on the garage shall be directed to the storm sewer system. If a storm sewer system is not available at the site, then the down spouts shall be directed to an underground drain line and taken to a street or rear yard Swale. RDHC 1557.04 FLUES. (Amended) The effective area of a flue serving a fireplace shall be not less than 1/10th the area of the fireplace opening when the required chimney height is 15 feet or more, and not less than 1/8th the area of the opening when the required chimney height is less than 15 feet. The first flue shall be placed as close to the center of the throat of the chimney as possible. The first flue shall be placed as vertical as possible, so that there will not be angling of the first flue.
