M.V. ORDINANCE N0. 88- 26 <br />Page -2- <br />RDHC 1553.02 DETACHED GARAGES. (Amended) <br />(c) WOOD-FRAME CONSTRUCTION. A one-story garage, <br />more than 10 feet .from the dwelling, built of wood frame <br />construction, shall comply with construction require- <br />ments for one-story dwellings with the following <br />exceptions: <br />i. Bottom of footings of frame garages shall <br />be 12 inches wide and not less than 36 inches below <br />finished grade. <br />ii. Studs shall have a spacing of not more than 16 <br />inches o.c. Doubling of studs shall be required on jamb <br />openings 3' - 6" wide or more. <br />iii. Sheathing shall be one-half inch CDX plywood <br />only covered by a minimum 15 ~~ felt building paper. <br />RDHC 1553.05 DRAINAGE. (Amended) <br />There shall be at least one drain inlet serving a <br />garage. All interior drains from attached or detached <br />garages shall be directed to the sanitary sewer system. <br />If a storm sewer is available, all down spouts on <br />the garage shall be directed to the storm sewer system. <br />If a storm sewer system is not available at the site, <br />then the down spouts shall be directed to an underground <br />drain line and taken to a street or rear yard Swale. <br />RDHC 1557.04 FLUES. (Amended) <br />The effective area of a flue serving a fireplace <br />shall be not less than 1/10th the area of the fireplace <br />opening when the required chimney height is 15 feet or <br />more, and not less than 1/8th the area of the opening <br />when the required chimney height is less than 15 feet. <br />The first flue shall be placed as close to the center of <br />the throat of the chimney as possible. The first flue <br />shall be placed as vertical as possible, so that there <br />will not be angling of the first flue. Fire-clay flue <br />lining, complying with ASTM C 315, shall be installed in <br />all masonry chimneys. Flue linings shall be supported <br />in masonry or concrete and shall extend from the top of <br />
