ORDINANCE N0. 88- 34 <br />Page -2- <br />SECTION 8. COUNCIL MEETINGS. <br />(A) The Council shall hold at least one regular meeting in <br />each calendar month. A majority of the members of the <br />Council shall constitute a quorum for the transaction <br />of business at any meeting of the Council, but a'lesser <br />number may adjourn the meeting from time to time. At any <br />meeting at which a quorum is present, any ordinance or <br />resolution may be passed or adopted, or any other action <br />may be taken, by the affirmative vote of a majority of <br />members of the Council unless a larger number be required <br />by the provisions of this Charter. The Clerk of Council <br />shall keep a record of its proceedings in a journal in <br />which the yea or nay vote of each Councilman voting on <br />every ordinance or resolution, and the action of Coun- <br />cil on other measures, shall be recorded. The Council's <br />journal shall be available for public inspection at all <br />reasonable times. All meetings of the Council shall be <br />open to the public unless an executive session is <br />conducted in accordance with the Ordinances enacted by <br />Council. <br />The question to appear on the ballot shall be as <br />follows: <br />A. Shall Article III, Section 8, Part (A) of the <br />Charter of Mayfield Village, Ohio, be amended <br />so as to provide that all Council meetings shall <br />be open to the public unless an executive session <br />is conducted in accordance with the Ordinances <br />enacted by Council? <br />SECTION 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to <br />immediately certify a copy of this Ordinance to the Cuyahoga County Board of <br />Elections in order to have the ballot issue contained herein placed on the <br />ballot for the General Election to be held on November 8, 1988, and to take <br />whatever other steps are necessary in order to comply with all directives of <br />the .said Board of Elections in order to secure placement on the ballot as <br />aforesaid. <br />SECTION 3. The Director of Law is hereby authorized and directed to <br />confer with the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and the Secretary <br />of State for the State of Ohio regarding the ballot question and to make any <br />changes necessary to comply with current election law so long as the substance <br />of any issue is not changed. ,In the event of the necessity of a substantial <br />change of any issue, the Council shall first be consulted. <br />
