*Amended 1/23/89 ORDINANCE N0. 89-3 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor.Carmen and Councilmembers:Basile, Cinco, Flynn, Mills, Rinker, and.Santoro AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE COMPENSATION OF THE COUNCIL, SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORATE FOR APPROVAL, PROVIDING FOR ALL NECESSARY PROCEDURES IN CONNECTION TR7?RMTH AND DECLARING AN EMEItGENCY WHERBAS, during the past several years, Mayfield Village has incurred extensive development in residential and commercial areas; and WHSREAS, such developments have required an extraordinary amount of time and effort by the various elected officials in order to protect the interest of Mayfield Village; and WHSREAS, the existing Charter under Article III, Section 7, provides that an increase in compensation for Council or the Mayor must be enacted by ordinance and submitted to the electorate for approval by a majority vote thereof; and WHERSAS, the next election is to be held on Tuesday, May 2, 1989, and any such issue, therefore, be submitted to the Cuyahoga County Board of Election at least seventy-five (75) days prior thereto, on February 16, 1989; now, therefore, ? BE IT ORDAINSD BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIEI.D VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: SECTION 1. The annual salary of the Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, shall be Four Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($4,500.00), effective January 1, 1990; Five Thousand One Hundred Dollars ($5,100.00), effective January 1, 1991; Five Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars ($5,700.00), effective January 1, 1992; and Six Thousand Three Hundred Dollars ($6,300.00), effective January 1, 1993, and continuing thereafter. The question to appear on the ballot shall be as follows: Shall Ordinance No. 89-3 , increasing the Council salary from Three Thousand Siz Hundred Dollars ($3,600.00) to Four Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($4,500.00) beginning 01/01/90 and providing for three (3) increases of Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) each year for three (3) years effective 01/01/91 through 01/01/93, be adopted?
