09/18/89 <br />ORDINANCE N0. 89- 41 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and the Entire Council <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING SECTIONS 373.01, 373.02, 373.04(a) <br />AND 373.07 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF <br />MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, PERTAINING TO THE DESIGNATION <br />AND OPERATION OF BICYCLE TRAILS AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, Mayfield Village has authorized the construction of bicycle <br />paths adjacent to S.O.M. Center Road within the Municipality; and <br />WHEREAS, such bicycle path has been used extensively by bicyclists, <br />runners and pedestrians; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Police Department that traffic <br />control devices be placed for the purpose or regulating, warning and guiding <br />the users of such paths, and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village are desirous of <br />amending legislation pertaining to the designation and operation of bicycle <br />trails; now, therefore, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. Sections 373.01, 373.02, 373.04(a) and 373.07 of the Codified <br />Ordinances of Mayfield Village, Ohio, are hereby amended to read as follows: <br />(Deleted material appears like -t4ri.-s and new material appears like THIS) <br />CHAPTER 373 <br />Bicycles <br />373.01 APPLICABILITY OF PROVISIONS. <br />The regulations applicable to bicycles set forth in this chapter shall <br />apply whenever a bicycle, adult tricycle or unicycle is operated upon a <br />sidewalk. street, highway, boulevard, public place or upon a ptbli-L-gath <br />BICYCLE TRAIL set aside for the ex-c?e use of bicycles, tricycles or <br />unicycles. <br />373.02 DEFINITIONS. <br />As used in this chapter: "Bicycle" means a two-wheeled vehicle having a <br />rear drive wheel which is solely human powered.
