ORDINANCE N0. 76- - 3 - <br />-Section 2. Thc Mayor and Finance Director are authorized to <br />; enter into a personal service contract for special telephone answering <br />service. The total amount of expenditure for this service shall not <br />exceed $432.00 per month. The personal service contract shall be re- <br />newable automatically from month-to-month unless terminated by not less <br />than 30 days notice in writing by either party to the other, All notice: <br />sent pursuant to this section shall be by U.S. Mail, certified, return <br />receipt requested. <br />Section 3. Uniform Allowance and Maintenance. <br />(a) Eacli newly employed male member of the Police Department <br />shall be reimbursed for the cost of uniforms purchased by him for use <br />in his employment in an amount not exceeding $400.00. Each newly <br />employed female member of the Police Department shall be reimbursed for <br />the cost of uniforms purchased by her for use in her employment in an <br />amount not exceeding $300.00. <br />(b) Annually, thereafter each male member of the Police Depart• <br />ment shall be reimbursed for uniforms purchased in an amount not to <br />exceed $300.00 per year; each female member shall be reimbursed for <br />uniforms purchased in an amount not to exceed $250.00 per year. The <br />uniform allowance may also be used for uniform maintenance. <br />(c) The Finance Director is hereby authorized to reimburse all <br />members of the Police Department for expenditures made in accordance witl <br />Section 3(a) and (b) provided, however, that receipted bills evidencing <br />the purchases are submitted together with an approval for payment by the <br />Chief of Police. The Finance Director is further authorized to make suc; <br />distributions during January and July of each year for the prior six-mon <br />period. <br />(d) Subparagraph (c) of'this Ordinance shall be effective <br />July 1, 1978. <br />(e) Each police officer, excluding the Chief of Police, shall <br />Ue compensated in addition to the salary schedule set forth in Section 1 <br />for attendance required in Court if such appearance occurs while the <br />police officer is not on duty. The police officer under these circum- <br />stances shall be paid the equivalent of two hours additional compensatio <br />computed at the officer's regular hourly rate provided in Section 1. <br />(f) Each full-time member of the Service Department shall be <br />reimbursed for work clothing purchased in an amount not to exceed $125.0 <br />per year. The Pinance Director is authorized to make such distributions <br />during January of each year. Receipted bills evidencing the purchases <br />will be submitted to the Building Commissioner for his approval and then <br />on to the Finance Director for payment. The uniform allowance may also <br />Ue used for unif.orm maintenance. <br />1
